Have anyone tried these heads. If so how did the ford like them. I'm thinking about takeing my iron GT40's off & replaceing them with another head. I few people locally said that for a 302 stay around 170cc runners. This car don't have to pass pollution laws so I don't need smog legal heads. I'm also getting a retro roller cam. What is considered a good head for a street setup with a goal of 400hp in mind?

They are great heads. Same as the Twisted wedge with the exception of no smog, and better springs. They are what Im going to run. I havent run them personally, but I hear all good things about them. In the past, the Twisted Wedge heads got a bad rap for accelrated guide wear due to the rocker angles, but I think with proper setup and pushrod length, the problem can be avoided.

They are very good heads, the midlift flow numbers are better than even AFRs. The biggest problem is figuring out what pushrod length you need for your combination. Because of the strange valve angles stock length p-rods usually are not the correct length. You'll probably need to buy/make an adjustable pushrod to get it right.

Thanks for the response, I have been looking at new heads or porting the GT40 heads & Edelbrock RPM's & Trick Flow are in reach. Edelbrock's for $1075 & Trick Flow for $1175. I was not pleased with Edelbrock airflow bench testing. Powerheads say they can port GT40's & get better results. They want $800 to port w/1.90 & 1.60 valves. Then another $100 for new rocker studs & spings to match the new cam. This engine building thing has become to complicated these days. I remember when we just pulled heads out of the junkyard & port them. And it's off the race track. Now there so much stuff to by, I don't have a clue were to start. I'm trying to stay with a 1.90 & 1.60 size valves because the new cam has a little duration & lift.

:D I know what you mean. Recently I was debating more porting and better springs for my GT40P heads. Then I realized I could get Ebrocks for not much more. People who have them agree they don't flow quite as well as some other heads but they are built really well, all threads helicoiled, and you can mill them up to 0.065". The Twisted Wedges were my second choice. Then I found a deal on a set of AFR 185s and jumped on them. Now my P heads are on eBay. It just never ends.

You are selling your Ps!!!???

You have been my inspiration :yup:

I am going to miss you in our "P" group.

Let me know how the new heads work. I am still VERY happy with the Ps, despite header and plug clearance issues. I might do a little more porting later on, but for now...nothing better than good heads. (y)

Yeah, you know, it's a hobby. I've ran the Ps for a little over 3 years now, time to play with something else. The Ps were excellent on my 306 but I think they were holding back the 347 I now have. Considered more porting a bigger springs but than the AFR deal came along...

    Barry,

Good luck with the new heads, and again, thanks for all the help with the installation of the Ps. Keep us informed of progress...I hope your new heads give you the boost that the Ps gave you over stock (or even better :yup: ). Also, good to know that the Ps won't work as good when I do the 347. I will have to keep that in mind when I start saving for the buildup.
