Besides all the other fun I had, I put my Sprint on the chassis dyno that was there. It pulled 303. 2 hp and 311.6 torque. That calculates to about 370 flywheel hp figuring 18% drivetrain loss. You should have seen the guys running across the field to check out the action when that baby was cranking.
Is there anyway to get a ballpark figure of my horsepower? I am no where near a dyno. 302 from 88 t-bird bored 40 over roller cam 600 edelbrock hei ignition stock manifolds swirl heads alluminum dual plane intake 2000 miles since rebuild. poeple keep asking me and I hate to lie, but i cant just say "I dunno?"
If you know your cars weight and how fast you can run the 1/4 mile here is a link the will calculate your horse power. (it's pretty close to dead on) horse power calculater Hey Dennis that's some SWEET numbers your small block is puttin out, you must be proud! Hope this helps Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
Nice numbers Mavaholic! Hey, another cool thing if you go check out the horsepower calculator listed a couple posts above right next to the heading on the page that says Ford Muscle, there is a picture of what appears to be a 1970 Grabber! Pretty cool if you ask me. I swear, these things have gotten more and more popular in the last few years. Later, -Corbin
My set up is as follows: 71 302 bored .30, Keith Black 115 pistons, Childs & Albert Zero gap rings (I do not recomend these rings), Stock rods & crank, windage tray, ARP bolts, Comp Cams hydraulic roller .566/.576 gross lift, 232/240 duration @ .50, Comp Cams Pro Magnum roller rockers on 7/16 studs, AFR 185's, ported, polished and milled, to yeld 10:1 compression, Eddlebrock RPM Air Gap manifold, Speed Demon 650 carb. I am running electric fan & fuel pump, none on engine. All MSD ignition, Hooker Comp headers, Dr Gas X pipe, 2 chamber Flow Masters, All exhaust 2 1/2" after collector, Top Loader 4 spd, 9" with detriot locker, 31 spline axles and 3:89 gears. HP peaked at 5000 rpm and torque at 5300. The power curve is a very small arc. I have a 6300 rev limiter and this car pulls hard all the way to it so I'm not sure where I'll shift it yet. Guess I'll do some experimenting at the roundup.
I'll tell you what, Dennis..you did one hell of a job on that Sprint. Powerful and beautiful to boot. You deserved that 1st place/Modified award and I'm glad you got it. Shame it wasn't out Sunday so I could get a pix of it for the magazine article. Saturday sucked for picture taking and I was too busy scarfing parts Friday to get any pictures. Maybe I'll get a couple detailed ones when I come down to pick up the car.
