I dunno. I think it may all be a matter of opinion. I have heard people saay that the a1000 is irritatingly loud, while others are fine with its noise. If you run an intank pump, they are darn quiet. I hear the Walbro inline universals are dead quiet, and they flow 255lph.

doesnt autometer still make the fuel pressure gauges and cups to fit them? 0-12 lbs? check jegs & summit, or go to autometer's web page. you want a large face gauge that is meant for gasoline. line must be metal if using at the track & gauge must be outside of drivers compartment. premade braided brake line, -3 or -4 works well.

I have the Aeromotive A1000. It is definetly loud (even with rubber spacers between mounting flange and trunk). But when the engine is running at idle I can't even hear my neighbors hollering "Turn that d**mned thing off!"

You know what your problem is? You're cheap and you think too much, Bub.

Simple terms: Autometer or Stewart Warner fuel pressure gauge. 2 1/16" or 2 5/8" face mechanical. Tee it into the fuel line going to the carburetor. Run the line up to the cowl area. Hose clamp, tie wrap or duct tape the gauge to the cowl and go for a drive. Quit buying the el cheapo crap because it's simply wasting your time and money. Or just call and ask. If you need the number PM me.

That's the one that I want, the quiet one. I hear the Barry Grant Enduro pumps are quiet (expensive but quiet)

The new edelbrock pumps are supposed to be extremely quiet. I read an article on this some time back but can't find it. If I remember correctly the "gearotor" (sp) design pumps are supposed to be the quiet ones.

Holley has a couple of new gerotor design pumps. I know the old blue pumps were vane type which are loud.

If I were gonna spend your money and buy one for your car it would probably be this one....

    Quiet-Flo™ Electric Fuel Pumps
Manufactured by Essex Industries, one of the most renowned fuel system manufacturers, these state-ofthe- art Electric Fuel Pumps offer maximum performance in a compact package. With anodized aluminum housings and high-quality internals, they are both strong and durable. Each pump is factory-tested and includes mounting brackets. The carbon fiber vanes and composite rotors give these pumps the added boost for maximum performance. The high quality construction results in a pump that is 4 to 14 dB quieter than competitors pumps at the same pressure. #1791 is factory preset to 6.5 psi and no regulator is required. With a replaceable screen type inlet filter and the free flow rate of 120 GPH is sufficient to supply 600 hp. #1792 has a free flow rate of 160 GPH, enough to feed a 1000 hp engine. This pump is factory preset to 12 psi and requires an external regulator such as the new Edelbrock regulator #1727.

Well, I'm not spending any more money on electric pumps until I hear (or should I say, dont hear) one in person to my liking.

I guess I need to run a test on the pump I have to see if pressure stays up before I start buying $300 pumps.

you dont need to spend 300. about 160 at jeg's will get what would suit you. just make sure you need it, first.
i've found mallory pumps to be fairly quiet, but not silent.

    Say huh?

$150, $300, for a pump? The big issue is how quiet it is? I have a couple of (went out to look) cheap ass, Purolator pro #125 Electronic(not ELECTRIC mind you) pumps. Been running in my '57 f100 292 for about 10 years. Kept a spare in it when I switched to this pump just for insurance because it was so cheap. Like $30. When the mechanical went out on the Cougar I pulled the 10 year old spare out of the '57 and hooked it up with a $15 regulator. That would be on the 351 Cleveland in the Cougar. If i listen real close I can hear the little thump, thump, thump in the morning telling me my carb is getting gas. That is, when I turn the key on and listen for it, before the car is actually started. I Floor it till hell freezes over and fuel flow is not a problem. Pull the gas line off the carb and gas is pumping out at way f'ing more than I could ever use. Guess I'm just too stupid to need a $300 electric fuel pump.
