    hmmmm

I was also wondering where i could find a good valve body tranny. you know the kind that you shift but dont have a clutch? i hear there are some good ones out there but dont know where to look. a friend of mine said that he had one once and it was realy fun.

well, I have a c4 foward pattern valve body, with a b&m z-gate shifter installed.. I can manually shift without overshifting. works like a ratchet shifter but isn't.. new tranny can take a pounding..

I run a race prepped c4 from G.E.R. in Oxford, PA.
works great, but there were a few quality issues (leaky, crushed cooler line fittings run far enough into the case to ruin the pipethread, pan gasket leaks, arrived without input shaft) that will probably keep me from using them again.
When you come up here I'll take you for a ride and you can see how it shifts. I use a B&M Megashifter. I like it more than my old Z-gate now that I'm used to it although that Z-gate I ran in my Courier was infallable.
Depending on how much power you plan to make, you may be happy with a stock tranny with a nice shift kit installed.

C-4 with a B-M TransPak install. B-M Hammer shifter and I've put the pounding to it! You can use a C-6 if you like but I don't think it will be any better the a strong build C-4.
As always this is just my 2 cents

Good luck with what ever trans you pick.

A good built c4 with a manual valvebody would be best for street/strip. You could also go with a AOD, but they're expensive and require some modifications to fit in the mav's chassis. C6's are tough as nails, but are extremely heavy and eat up close to 70 HP. I use the C4 in the turbo maverick--no problems, yet:D
