Snagged me a Holset HX40 off of evil bay today. I guess this leaves me no choice but to put in on the Mav. Stay tuned...:bananaman:bananaman

Pic! [IMG] Comes with an extra turbine housing too. This sucker should be good for around 500rwhp. I hope its in rebuildable shape. The seller has 100% positive feedback and seems to know turbos, so we will see.

Emblems? Who knows...I'll most likely keep it in primer and sneak around. I was going to build a NA 408 stroker, but I think I found a good running roller motor for cheap. I may just do the H/C/I thing on a stock roller bottom and boost it till it blows :D I change my mind and combo every ten minutes or so, so I wont know what the final product is until it fires up.

HX40W should work pretty good on a 302. It's sized just about right for a street car or mild strip car. Should see full boost before 3500 RPM, maybe sooner. Oh, and the HX40's are capable of around 43 psi if that tells you anything....good to about 475-550 HP w/o an intercooler.......add a good IC and you can have another 100 or so HP. I've got a HY35W sitting here in front of me...going to put it on my 2.3 mustang. Attempting to get 400 HP out of it. Actually, the HE351CW (off of Cummins powered dodge pickups w/automatic....'04-later) is nothing more than a HY35W with the HX40W compressor. I know of a guy that's using one on a TurboCoupe thunderbird with good results. 22 psi at 4000RPM and boy does it come on strong!

You need an emblem or 2? I think I have some left over from when I did the turbo Maverick a few years ago. I'll have to do some lookin' around.

That HY35 is gonna be bad ass on your 2.3 (y) The guy I bought this HX40 from also has an HX35W on ebay for $100 buy it now(unless somebody has bid on it alread). That would be a great turbo for a built 2.3 also. Good luck!

Oooooh pretty! I dont plan on intercooling it to start with, though that may change. Front mounts are getting pretty affordable, but I have a small bumper car. Not sure what will fit at this point.

Might be a dumb question, but I have been looking at those small belt-drive blowers that are about this size, and wondered where the alternator goes when you drop this in? Down, other side, or what? It seems like I could lose the powersteering and mount on that side?

Looks similar to what I plan as far as routing, though I will likely put the turbo on the passenger side where the battery used to be.
