See this Thread first ... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=19755 I spoke with Dick Brannan this morning. He lives in Dawsonville, GA. He worked for Ford SVT throughout the 1960's. The 429 Maverick he raced was actually owned by Ford Motor Company and they took it back after the race season so he has no idea where it is ... probably crushed. Paul Harvey Ford was actually an Indiana Dealership who was a friend of Dick so he put his name on the car. Up until 1968 FoMoCo used the let the driver buy the car for $1 at the end of the season. His team also raced Galaxies, Falcons and Mustangs. He says he gets paid to attend Ford shows throughout the country. While up at Ford Carslisle this year he noticed that the majority of the cars there were from the Southeast but there were no big shows down here. He said he has been asked to attend FFW in Commerce but doesn't like that show because there are too many 5.0's ... he is more into the classic cars. If the plans go his way the show will be restricted to 74 and older cars so this may affect some Maverick from attending. He met with Ford Corporate yesterday to see if they would be interested in sponsoring the show in Cumming and he said it is looking positive. This will mean Ford will have their own displays as well as concept cars on display. Also buy Ford backing the event it would make it more prestigious. Dick also said he is likes the Cumming Fairground setup and is hoping to make this the Ford Carslisle of the South. He has already got commitments to have many cars there from as far away as Nevada. This is all sounding good to me ... I wouldn't mind having a Ford Carslisle size event in my own back yard every year! It's raining here so we did not meet at the Fairgrounds this morning to get a spot for the Mavericks and Comets. This could be the start of a good thing so anybody that would like to bring a Maverick or Comet to the show please let me know. For know I am going to tell him 10 cars but that is probably being optimistic .... Thanks ... Dan
Lets hope its not $25 a ticket for spectators like that last show I attended down there. Carlisle is $7.
yeah .. FFW is a rip-off ..... They are getting $10 at the fairgrounds ... http://fordsouth.com/_wsn/page2.html
dude thats cheap! its like $30 bucks for the all ford round up (well to enter your car) out this way and i've been to some shows that are like $55! i think the cheap ones are the ones you pay $12 bucks then get a 1.50 lunch and a free t-shirt thats a deal!
I See its $10 a day for spectators. Still not as cheap as Carlisle but way better that the $25 fee I spent last time.
FFW is 90% 5.0 Mustangs ... I think they are not allowing anything newer than 1974 on the show in Cumming ... Except for the fact that the Mini-Meet is at FFW ... I am looking forward to the Cumming show more the Commerce ... plus ... it's a 5 minute drive to the Cumming Fairgrounds instead of a 75 minute drive to Commerce for me ... They are having a swap-meet in Cumming ...
Very true. I did get kind of tired of seeing all the 5.0 'Stangs there last year. It's kinda like you see one, you've seen 'em all after a while.
