I am doing the Dennis Martin Mustang fuel tank swap
and wanted to get all new parts for this job.

I had asked a couple of people on the board about
the floor seal around the filler pipe visible in the trunk.
Dan Hines thought the '71-'73 Mustang part was the
same. I received it today and it appears to be the
same part reproduced. This piece goes around the
gas inlet pipe and is attached to the trunk floor with
screws to prevent dust/dirt/water from coming into
the trunk. They dryrot and crack fairly easily.

Part # D1ZZ-9008-AR 'Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Assembly'

    $19.95 + s/h

    I got mine from:

I knew it was the same because I had put one in my car during the restoration. I had also researched the part number and verified it was the same on both cars ...

I have heard you can use the 69-70 tank which is bigger and you dont have to shorten the straps. I have not personelly seen anybody do it but I wish someone would try.

Thanks Seth, good info. Mine ripped apart when I took the original rusted out gas tank out of my car back in March. I've been running around since then without one.

'65-'68 tank kit with sending unit etc.

I bought mine from Laurel Mountain Mustang-the kit had everything
except the trunk to floor seal and the parts needed from Ford to make it a vented tank. See Dennis' How-To article.

Dan seems to be the only person who knew about the seal. I'm glad that it is the same.

Dannel Carpenter reproduces them and list them for the Maverick. Thats where I got mine over 3 years ago.

    Oooops!
I think you may be right. Maybe it was another person I asked who did not know that it was the same as a Mustang piece. Dennis told me about Daniel Carpenter.

So, 2 people knew it was the same, Craig and Dan.

I'll let you know for sure maybe in a couple of weeks. I ordered the 22 gal tank. it's being cut down to make room for the leaf springs that i'm moving over. It's all trial & error at this point to get a late model mustang wheel to bolt up without adapters.
