My BFG T/A Radials are no longer working...even with a spool and 3.80 gears, the tail end swims and peels out at takeoff, if I put my foot into it.

I would like something street legal (even if "barely" legal), good for at least 120 mph, highway-able (at least barely, seldom trips over 30 miles), and preferably a wrinkle wall. Relatively low cost is nice (BFGs run ~$75 each).

I would like something that comes in 255/60r15, but would settle for as small as 245 or maybe as big as 265, if I can get them to fit under stock wheelwell. These will be mounted on 8" Cragar S/S rims.

Mickey thompson street radials you can get them in 235 60 r15 or 275 60r15

They work as good as you are gonna get without a slick. They do pretty good.

Can I fit 275s under my fender? I have 245s on there now, with a little room left, maybe (and that is "maybe") 1/5" before I hit the spring. Plenty of room before I hit fender lip.

I don't really want to go smaller than 245.

Jeg's description says "a special sidewall construction for quick launches"...does that mean wrinkle walls?

Anyone used the Hoosier Quick Time DOT Drag tires? A little cheaper, but smallest tire is 275 again.

I ask because my decorator (my wife) says "I like the Hoosier's better...they have a cooler sounding name, and they look cooler!"

Sometimes, what the wife has to say is VERY important... :p

    Good. Fast. Cheap.
    Pick two, I'm afraid...
Or really when your talking about tires, pick one.
275/50r15 is only 26" tall and they make a BFG drag radial in it. No wrinkle wall, but they hook like crazy.

if you want tires that grip good plan on spending more than $75 in my opinion. i just bought a set of m/t street drag radials from jegs. about $165 each, plus they don,t fit on stock rims so there was another $3:) 20 for rims.

Also, if they hook good, they wont last. You need softer rubber to get traction. Softer rubber also picks up gravel better and pelts your quarter panels.

Mavaholic, that was going to be my next question...how long do they last?

So, do you need special rims for all wrinkle walls?

Also, some tires are sized what I think is considered "metric"--245/60r15, for example. The others are sized 31 x 16.6-15LT...are these the ones that won't fit on my regular old cragars?

Extra rims are not out of the question, but I was hoping to put track tires on my old cragars and buy nice new AR Torq II for street driving with basic BFGs. Just throw them in the trunk, drive to the track, jack up and swap the rear tires, and race!

If you're gonna get extra wheels just for racing, just buy slicks.

Looks like I am heading that way, even though I didn't want to.

I will have to compromise, and stick with one of the BFG tires.

Has anyone used the G-Force T/A Drag Radials? Or am I going to have to stick with regular T/As.

what about ET streets... or Nitto Drag Radials... they work awesome.... good soft tire compound... good for about 20,000 miles if driven moderately. and sizes range from 215 on up...

they are also LEGAL to use on the road..

I run DR and they hook very well. Have not launched with gas yet, but they hook launching with the stall at about 2750

Those ETs look good. Still have to choose between 235 and 275. Not sure if I can fit 275 in there. 235 are a little narrow, but if I have to go there...
