I pulled the old carpet and padding out last weekend to put in new. I've got some Por-15 to buy first. :49:

Those roll-bar foot pads aren't to spec either. I might have my buddy come over with his MIG and fix me up (I gotta get 5-point harness mounts welded in also).

At least your floors don't feature "flow thru ventilation" like mine.

My buddy sez if it ain't horse-power related and you can't throw it a 1/4 mile, get rid of it! (y)

However, just in case I ever want to 'trade up', I figured I'd keep the pedal for the youngsters who don't know that Automatic is the way to go. ;) It tucks underneath the carpet nicely so it's not really a problem.

Acorn, interesting article on the Eastwood product. "Decisions, decisions." :hmmm:

    re:floorboard overall condition
Yeah, I was more than a little aprehensive before pulling the carpet back, but then I was pleased to see that it wasn't TOO bad for a 35 y/o econo car.

Also, you can see in the picture one of the holes where the Ziebart was applied. I'm defintely a believer in it. The worst rust spots on the car are where you see in the pic - oops, forgot about where the hood hinges attach. It's relatively bad there. I guess they wouldn't apply Ziebart to those surfaces.

Heck Rick, I wish my floors looked that good! I've got tons of surface rust and several pin holes on my drivers side. both my rear floors have pin holes and there is alot of surface rust under my back seat. I decided to just leave it for now and this summer I'm pulling my interior back out and finding someone to sand blast the entire floor.

Both of my parts cars have better floors then the car I'm fixing up. My '76 shell has 100% rust free floors. When I see stuff like that I have to stop and wonder if I'm going the right direction with this car.

I was in deep thought yesterday about giving up on this '74 and swapping everything over to my '76 rolling shell. I just can't bring myself to do it though. The '74 has to much history. And judgeing by the way the 3rd owner talks about this car, he would probably hunt me down and kill me if I parted it out. :)

No, but I'd give my right arm for a 2 door Comet shell with rust free quarters and decent floors. :D
