Before I proceed with this I would like to run it by everyone to see if I'm missing anything. First, if anyone has pics they can post of a car with the large bumper slide that would be great. I have a 74 with the extra seating for three on the front bumper that ratio411 (I think) mentioned in a previous post!! Good one. It appears that I can slide the front bumper in 2 inches without modifying anything but the bumper isolators (shocks). I figured I could do this with a press and not have to cut or weld. Basically, I would compress the isolators 2 inches and bolt everything up. I may have to trim the stone deflector. Other than that the front is done, correct? It also appears that sliding it in 2 inches will not interfere with the turn signal (side marker) lights. The back appears to be a different story. If I slide the rear in 2 inches it looks like I will significantly block the side marker lights, correct? I just painted the car and I don't have anything bolted on yet but looking at the bumper and fillers it looks like I may block the rear side marker lights. Can someone measure from the side marker light to the rear bumper on their 74-77 and tell me how far in I can go before blocking the light, thanks. Again, any pics of a car with these mods would be great. For that matter a close up of a stock 74-77 with measurements from the lights to the bumper would be great. Also, I was thinking of using the press to compress the rear isolators as well. And, the rear filler would likely need to be trimmed. Thoughts!

My '77 has the "bumper slide." Frank (71gold) did the slide when he owned the car. He nothced the front fenders, which I think really needs to be done to do it right. Here's a pic of my '77 that Dan (dmhines) photoshopped for me (to make the hood the same color as the rest of the car).

Even though I still dont like them big bumpers, that certainly looks way better than stock.

Hawko, any idea how much he "pushed" the bumper in? Thanks for the pic! If I pushed them in 2 inches it doesn't appear as though I would need to notch the fenders. One additional problem I see with the rear is the filler on the sides would not be flush witht the bumper any longer. Thoguht about it more and the bumper may not interfere but the bumper "frame" may be a problem.

great picture hawko, thanks. I had seen the post you linked. I was hoping to do it without the welding. Need to find a big tree! Merlin, are you talking about where the bumper isolator bolts to the actual car "frame". If you can call sheet metal a frame! Merlin, I checked my bumper and it has two sets of holes to allow it to be bolted to the frame. It was already setup with the two holes that would place it "closer" to the car. I'm not sure why there are two sets of mounting holes. Seems a bit odd!

nobody mentioned anything about the rear bumper. I can see how the front bumper isolators work (rubber inserts) but are the rear isolators liquid filled or?
