Search button didn't net me what I wanted to find, though I remember seeing the picture somewhere here. On the other side of the block I saw a 66 mustang with stock mustang gt wheels from a 99-2003 model (or were they v6 wheels?) Anyhow, what is the scoop on this, I liked what I saw and think it may look good. Anyone have any pics of late model 5 lug mustang wheels on a mav?? Is the spacing exactly the same, will these bolt right up?? what about clearance issues?? Were they 16" or were people using 15" 6 cylinder wheels??
Hey Jeremy. I posted some pics on here of our Mav. with some 17" stang wheels. Rather than repost the pics here is the thread: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2700 It is on the main forum and the title is "Latest pic of reassembly " on 4/11/03. There is also a pic on the tech forum under the title "Braided steel brake lines" posted 5/503. Good luck with your project. Greg
Hey it worked! Here is a link to the tech page. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2944
Man your car looks beautiful!!! I didn't realize they were 17" wheels. I clicked on the other link, but had a few more questions. Were they a direct fit onto the stock maverick lug nut pattern?? what size tire are you running, and what kind of clearance issues did you have if any?? I presume those are stock 99-03 gt wheels right??? I could probably pick those up for a song.
Thanks Jeremy. Right now the rear end is a stock 8 inch Mav. rear. Will have to use 1 3/8 inch H&R spacers for this combo to clear front or rear. The tires clear the spring by about 3/4 to 1 inch. They clear the rolled inside fender lips by about the same distance. The suspension has new poly bushings in it. We haven't driven it yet but I don't anticipate any tire rubbing.
Sorry, I forgot to answer the rest of the questions. The wheels are 17 X 9 Mustang GT wheels and the tires are 245/45X17 Goodyears. The wheels came from a 1996 GT I think. They do have the same bolt circle as a Mav. but the back spacing is very deep, something in the 5.5 to 6" range. The tires would hit the leaf springs without the spacers. We bought the tires and wheels for $300 but the spacers are $400 new. I see them come up for sale used occasionally, just not when I need them. Good luck. Greg
