After all the weather hold ups, she finally came in. I snapped some quick pics yesterday afternoon, but they turned out pretty dark. Here's the best 2. Overall, John described her pretty well... The scrapes on the sides are a little deeper into the actual metal than I had pictured. Probably more to my wishful thinking rather than anything John said. The clock shows 81k miles. I am pretty sure it is actual. The engine runs VERY strong and clean. The exhaust is totally original. The only thing not original from what I can tell is the gas cap, driver fender, water pump, and some general tune up items. I replaced the battery and the rear tires already, as well as the grille. The body is dinged and scraped on most panels. The driver's rear quarter is the only one that bothers me much though, it is in the body lines. The timing was way retarded and the accellerator pump was ruptured. After those two quick fixes, the car runs like a scalded dog. The radiator has a tiny pin hole in the top of the tank, so a little solder is next... Along with flushing the black goo from the radiator from a few attempts at stop leak. Oh, we also replaced one headlight and both brake lights. There were no brake lights on the car the whole way back from the transport co. (40 miles). After changing the bulbs didn't help, I found that someone had totally removed the brake switch! The connector was just dangling. So a new switch cured that problem. I told my uncle that I wanted to do some very mild engine mods and was looking to buy a cheap aluminum intake and small Holley. He told me to save my dough and gave me a 289 cast 4v intake and a 600 vac Holley that he had around. Anyway... just glad it's here! Dave:bananaman Edit: It came with the original, unused, Polyglas spare in the trunk!
Nice car. PS. Hey Ratio411, I noticed you are on Stangnet also. Is there any other members from this forum on there?
I love a Sprint story with a happy ending, or in this case, a happy beginning. Dont forget to send me the info for the registry.
Thanks guys! I'm excited. Sure will! If it's not done by then, I will at least drive it there. I will enter it, just for giggles when it is painted. I will. I can do it pretty quick. Sometime this week. Dave
Yeah, stangnet is pretty cool I don't know where to post half of the time though. I like the Maverick forums better, not as much people. Sorry for getting off topic.
