mustang factory shorty headers has anyone used them on a maverick looks like the the gear box is in the way ??
i have a set of long hedman headers i will be installing when my car comes home from the paint shop. I know i need the drop bracket for my power steering, but ive heard this will drop the left turn response. Is there a way to alleviate this? what is the cause of the steering response loss?
I never noticed a difference. Well, one time the bracket got loose and the slave cylinder rubbed the headers then... Dave
I thought this was going to be a "SLOW" race car, Ivy! Ha! I suppose the term is relative. Don't do what I did (if you don't wanna spend too much). I went with the Headman Super Comps 1-3/4" primaries. Had to use head/header spacers. Bottom line - it took lots of money. If you want to go cheap, you can do a search on 'headers' in the search button up top and find some 1-1/2" primaries that work ok. I'll see if I can find a set of the shorties for you to try on for size.
so what exactly was the spacer for? is it to get them lined up with the stock heads or is there something else causing issues? just wondering, since i plan something similar and have the parts in hand. of course im changing my heads too so that may be a mute point.
It widens the disance between the headers so they will clear the bellhousing (at least for that reason. I can't remember - they might also keep the headers from interfering with suspension or motor mounts without them). <--unsure of own name sometimes
Has anyone used the Hedman shorties for 64-66 Mustang in their Maverick? I see they make a set of shorties for a 351W. I had a set I know they didn't work with V8 Z-bar and I sold them because they wouldn't work in my 4-door. My 70 is a floor shift auto and was wondering if they would work for it. I never actually tried them in a Maverick body.
