Hi, Im new to the boards. I just bought a Mav and I'm totally stoked. I've wanted one for quite a while after one day seeing one on the road and thinking .. Holy S*I* what was that!
Anyways my Mav is exactly like the one in this pic but a darker brown like copper. It has the same wheels. I would really like to put on some sportier wheels that I think will really enhance the look. I'd like to have a similar look and wheel placement to the racing vectors on the General Lee. I like the hollowness of the vectors and the small, fat kind of look. I also like magnums. I want the wheels to have a smaller diameter than those currently on the car, but wider, especially in the rear. I also don't mind that the wheels are slightly inset, like the Charger.
    Ideas would be much appreciated.

You might want to look at this site if you have ideas about different wheels. They are a little pricey, but most are kind of hard to find.Good for ideas

Welcome to the board...we have a few here from around B.C.(including myself)...glad you made it! I knew a fellow a few years ago that had very simular rims on his Maverick...I can ask him if he still has them if you'd like. But if you look though the "readers rides" you'll find many many different styles that people like on these cars...

The Vectors are cool. Hot Rod magazine recently had an article about the General Lees used in the new movie. It said that one of the hardest things about getting the replicas together was finding the wheels.

Welcome to the board. By smaller diameter are you refering to the rim size or tire sidewall area(low profile tires etc....) I wouldn't se you going smaller diameter rim. The factory ones are 14 inch. I would go with a 15 inch rim and some 60 series tires or 50 series. I think those rims would look good on a mav too(y)

So 1badmav, it is possible to go for 15" for the rear tires and 14" for the front? Also 60 series tires are bigger than 50 series? Thanks - I'm pretty new to this stuff.

well, I'm not sure, but if you change your brakes to disc and upgrade the rear, the dodge wheels maywork, but don't hold me to it, I know the big bolt pattern wheels are the same as the big pattern fords, so maybe the small patterns will work as well. Good luck

I had those wheels on my Mav back when I was in high school and it was primer. They were 14" and I had 245/60 on the back with standard tires on the front. I really liked the look but ended up buying my 16" centerlines when the car got painted. If I find pics I will post.

Yes you can mix rim sizes like that. A 60 series tire is taller than a 50 series but the 50 is wider. I believe the 60 means the height is 60% of the width where as the 50 would be 50% of the width. So given the same size tire, as the series number goes down, the tire gets wider. Also remember when dealing with wide tires, there are minimum rim widths for a given tire.
