I don't have the codes, looks yellow to me. I would like to see a close up of the door data tag? on the driver side door above the latch. It looks to be much different than US and Canadian cars, maybe stamped metal like older Fords from the 60's? Seth
Mine is 6E, French's mustard yellow. Your's is more Goulden's spicy brown. My interior is brown (Ford Ginger), but Tan would be OK. So did anyone phone Ed to find out the price of that black Grabber in the video? I suppose finding a rust free grabber in Northern Illinois is very rare. The salesman didn't say they all came with 302 engines. He said the 302 was part of the Grabber package. It was an option in the 1971 Grabber package, so that's not completely false. So many restored Grabbers have had V8s put into them, that's probably why most non-Maverick owners believe they were standard. Roz
It's on Trader Online for $9,900 ..... There is a more original black Grabber on there for $13,900 as well ...
i can say yes and no to seeing the maverick becomming a high $$ car. Yes becuase yeah its great to see one car or cars that i own go up in value when no one else though they would. but i'm more toward the NO cuz i don't want the maverick being like how all these mustang guys are. i'm not say all mustang owners are bad but they do tend to be stuck up not to menation the maverick guys at least seems to be more of the every day dude. i mean i bought a maverick cuz i couldn't get a mustang at the time cuz they were too much. at least a maverick was cheap... i would like to see price say on the low side so a normal everyday person can afford a car to fix up nice and stand out from the crowd. do you know what i mean? yeah point taken but wasn't it an option for ANY maverick it wasn't only an option for the grabber correct?
Numbers The appraisal for my car went like this: 5/'03 1974 Maverick, Grabber, 302 automatic, p/s, disc brake, AC, deluxe interior/bench, tinted windows complete, bumper protection group, AM radio, halo vinal top. Orginal, unrestored with 33,644 miles. All features are in working order. Updated wheels and tires, better than orginal. Minor engine upgrades to enhance performance. Ziebart rustproofed when new. Value: $9,500.00. This was two years ago. I need an update. Desired body style, amount of options and condition and How many were manufactured is what usually get the higher value. They will look close at at the workmanship of repairs and total restorations. If my car were to be a total loss, they would back the appraisal in court if needed. I do not think there wood be any trouble from Hagerty. I pray I never have to find out!
interesting... but that don't mean you'll get $9500 for your car if you sold it but if something does happen to your car i hope thats what they will give you for it. but i guess this is what i mean by "these people" ie: Hagerty putting these vaule on these cars.... personally i think its hog wash... i was going to say something else... started with a "B" but do you see what i'm getting at. i just don't understand it. so if its restored to what the manufactured had make it like.... that usually gets the higher value? here we go! this is what i mean.... where people think they can get these stupid amounts for cars that are even worth that (meaning junk that they want to get rid of cuz they think its some classic) don't know just venting... i just get approached all the time with people how have no idea what they are talking about and want these crazy prices, just becuase they saw one maverick go on ebay or somewhere else for some crazy price. infact i see this post being refered to as... someone said there maverick was appriased at $9500 bucks
If you ever watch Antiques Road Show, the appraiser will usually estimate the price at auction. If they quote an insurance price, it's usually 20-30% higher. Insurance appraisals are often used by rich people to donate something to charity and take the appraised amount off their taxes. It's usually not what anybody would pay for the thing, but they do make the prices go up. Roz
Valu Hagerty is my insurance co. not the appraiser. The value is set buy ath appraiser so there is an aggreed abount to insure the car for. In a total loss, it worth that much. If I decide to sell the car I have legal proof of what the is worth. I may not get excatly that much for it but its a starting point of what to ask depending on the market and availibalilty. Restored cars are awsome and worth alot of money , I have a restored '69 Mach 1 Mustang. A nice unrestored car is a direct copy from Ford! There is a lot to admire about that.
Both true. But I think hardly anyone wants a Grabber with a 6 these days (lets take a survey ). Either they find an original V8 or they change the engine. I don't know why Ford didn't make the V8 standard in Grabbers, since they were supposed to be the performance version of the Maverick. Folks who don't know a lot about Mavericks think Grabbers all came with V8's, because either they have them now or they should have had them anyway. Roz
