When it was my mothers daily driver I put that undercoating on them to slow the rust down a little and it did help some. So I should use fiberglass then ?
This got me thinking; when I was a teenager I helped out a guy for a while who was doing paint and body out of his shop at home. I recall he used galvanized metal in certain cases in structural areas that were prone to rusting out. I can't remember if there were any special techniques or other considerations to keep in mind when doing this, but I know some of the cowls on the later years were made of galvanized, so it seems to me it wouldn't be a bad idea for other areas like this on our cars.
Just watch welding on galvanized, that zinc puts off some nasty fumes. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area..........
