That's a modular motor. It will not fit between the shock towers without a LOT of modification. Then you gotta swap over the fuel inejection and all that.

It would be a huge undertakeing in my book, but anything can be done with enough time and money.

They are making a carb intake for those motors now. Expensive I am sure.....

What these guys are saying is that your motor is a 4.6 modular motor. Modular motors are very wide. Our mavericks and comets are limited by the two shock towers as to what we can fit under the hood. If you really, really want to go with a modular motor, you will need to perform the Mustang II Front end swap. This takes the shock towers out of the equation. I have never done the swap myself, but it is my understanding that A LOT of fabrication is required. However, several people on this site have done it and had great results. It is all up to you. Not trying to discourage you, just want you to be fully aware of what you are facing. Do a search for "Mustang II" and see what you come up with. There are a few kits that include all that you would need, you just weld/bolt them in. Or you can get a M II from somewhere and yank the frontend out and put it in your car (I wish it were just that simple) :D The usual engines that folks on here have in there cars are 302 (or 347 strokers which is based on the 302 block) and 351 windsors (A coupla people have stroked these as well) With the 302 you don't have to cut/change anything besides motor mounts. (here's a link to some swap info)http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=4581
With the 351 a popular thing to do is shave the shock towers back some to provide clearance for changing plugs and installing headers.http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=18193 Like I said earlier it's all up to you. If you have the time, money, know-how, and patience to do the M II frontend swap and deal with the wiring to make the 4.6 work, then go for it. I think that would be one of the coolest things I have seen done to a Maverick/Comet. Anyway, Good Luck!! Preston

Welcome to the board, Tex. I don't mean to beat a dead horse or further discourage you, but the guys are right. That 4.8 is wider than a 427 c.i. and would require a huge amount of time and modifying to get it underneath the hood.

As with most things though, all it takes is money!

    Good luck.

you should be able to sell that 2000 combo off easy enough to pick up a nice 5.0 engine for your mav

I don't think those 'Stang wheels will fit without spacers. They are the same bolt pattern, but they probably have to much back spaceing. Could be wrong though. You'd have to stick one on and see.
