well, not mav. related, but it's a statement against disc brakes.. today i installed some new disc pads on my buddys chevy beretta.. anyways, it was all bled right, installed right, ect.. but i forgot to clean all the brake fluid off of the rotors.. so anyways, we did some 60 to 0 tests to test out the new brakes, and well, they worked too well.. on about our 4th pass we noticed massive smoking and brake smell, and figured the brake fluid was just burning off.. boy was it!! after the next pass my buddy noticed some orange flashing, thinking "my turn signals aren't on!!"" so we got out, and the rotors were glowing orange, and the brake fluid on them had ignited and were burning furiously.. we, of course, freaked out, stopped in the middle of the road, got all my buds anti freeze and water out of the trunk trying to extinguish the flames.. we thought the whole car was going to go up in flames. of course the water did nothing, we ran out, i started spitting, we were about to urinate on em and the fires finally burned themselves out.. it was the funniest thing that has ever happened to me.. but nothing was harmed, so "no foul"... anyways, i have NEVER had this happen to drum brakes.. and this is the first time ive had it happen to disc.. any of you have any similar stories??lol..

    Thats a great story!!! funny!

NEVER leave ANY brake fluid on the rotor(I am sure you know this knoW) It is also very important to never get grease or brake fluid on the pads, as it can ruin them,

There is good chance that the pads unfortunetly are ruined, and his rotors may be warped from the excessive heat,

better check for damage before he needs to make an emergency stop.

If you only had a video camera handy!!

we checked it all out.. its all good.. the brake fluid wasn't on the pads or directly on the rotor.. just around that general area..the backing plate, ect.. the rotors need replacing soon anyways. the rotors aren't warped but well, kinda scrached fromt he squealer ont he old pads.. and they are cheap pads.. lol.. plan on redoing them in a month..

and it wasn't an excessive amount of heat.. no more then normal.. well, aside from the flames.. but they weren't HUGE flames.. but it sure was funny.. as well as scary as hell...

Just out of curiosity where did this little fire occur? I know some of the back roads in Littlerock! Wish I could have seen it. Take care.
