What types of fuel can be (safely) used on an original 302-2V?

That sucks, I thought it was earlier in the game... all the good heads has weak exhaust valve seats.

 

Catalytic converters = unleaded gas= 1975. Lived it. I have 2 cars that I know for a fact that have not been rebuilt,, ever...one is a 1930 Ford Model A,, second is a 1960 Pontiac ... being rebuilt only relates in engine terms. Both engines are as the day they were built.The Pontiac was restored by me, the Model A is basically a survivor. We had leaded gas here until the mid 80's due to agricultural concerns. I have read numerous articles and researched since this topic began in 1975. Add an additive if it makes you feel good. For me,, I have no real conclusive evidence that what I am doing has helped my motors. I just know they keep on running like a fine watch.

From what I read many years ago when unleaded gas was being shoved down our throats, the only time lack of lead will will become an issue, is if you drive the interstate every day for a great distance. People like my brother who put about 70,000 miles a year on his company vehicle, would definately have problems in the olden days. The every day driver would never see a problem.

 

Thanks guys, you have apeased my fear of blowing the outlet valve seats. Indeed octane levels are higher in Belgium (as well as the price, we pay about 1.80 USD/liter, that would be almost 7 dollars a gallon).

My car will never be used for long trips, and I do not plan to race it either, so we should be OK then.
