That is a cool story about your car. Even cooler is the fact it is a true sprint. If you could post some pics we would love to see it.

That is a nice story about your gift. Stars are not a normal thing for a sprint, somebody added that. Is it by chance the one that was on ebay with the stars on the hood?

Hi all. Thanks for the additional replys. I am a computer "non-geek", so I will try to get pictures on here as soon as I take some. Will be a few days, as I have a very busy week, plus my son-in-law wants to do some additional detailing to my Maverick, before it officially hits the road. I completely rebuilt the brake system last week, and am in the process of collecting up all the stuff to put in "under-the-dash" air.

I will also collect up the information for the "registry".

    Take care all. Jack.

Hi all. Acornridgeman, no. Mine is not that one on E-Bay, if you are speaking of one that was on there about a year and a half ago. Had a V8, and stars.

Actually that is where I came up with the stars from. Before my son-in-law painted mine, it did have the two blue stripes on the hood that went all the way up the hood and unto the cowling. It also had the strips at the bottom of the sides. I assumed that since that Maverick on E-Bay had stars inbetween the two hood stripes, that they must have been on mine too, and that someone must have removed them. Well, I just learned something new. They never belonged there.

It was in very rough shape when I bought it. ($300.00). It couldn't even be driven until I put a new head on it, and a new radiator, a rear transmission seal, and u-joints. The head was the updated version for unleaded gas. There was a lot of surface rust on it, as I believe it was a "coast car". Lots of salt in the air there.

Miracle is, the ductwork under the cowl doesn't leak. Well, at least for now it doesn't.

Did leak around the windshield though (at the top) until I got a new gasket put on, and a little welding and smoothing where it was rusted under the gasket; and also leaked in the trunk (real news huh-Ha ha) until I put a gasket on it. Not sure how the trunk will fare, as it hasn't rained since I put the gasket on.

Very neat cars, but sure have some troublesome spots. Have driven Mavericks almost 25 years now, with the exception of a couple of intermittent years when I sold one and bought another.

All have a nice evening. Jack.

Anyone who doesn't think the Mav and the Pinto look similar..........at least the tops of the fenders and around the headlights is just plain in denial. Right now there are no badges or stripes on mine and people constantly ask me if it's a vega!?:hmmm:
My question is why does the Pinto have an actual control arm suspension and the Mav has these paper thin strips of metal.(control arms..........sorta) Are there any new pics somewhere of Thomas Hackman's Jaguar suspended Mav?
    I know........I'm sorry.......I went waaaaay off topic.

Jack - Glad to hear about another surviving Sprint. I can't wait to see pics! Your daughter and son-in-law must think a lot of you to do that. What a great story.

    Sam :)
