88300 + power steering other tricks

So now my headers is in but not without pain cause it's so fit in there But I thing that it's too fit cause when I turn the wheel the power steering shock hit the header on driver side even if I put the power steering drop braquet so does any body knows what's wrong???

And an another problem is to bolt the headers on the engine cause I used the shorter bolt that was on manifold but the head of the bolt is too big I can't tight it with a box or key so do you used special bolt for it

    Thanks
    David

Comet 75; as far as the power steering bracket, if you have the bracket, I guess you will have to make a spacer and pull the ram down a bit more. For the header bolts, get a set of allen bolts, with a round head. They are easier to work with, and fit a lot better. Hope this helps.

Thanks Earl, But as I see I'll need to space it between 1 or 2 inches i'm affraid that it will toutch the ground too many often so does it normal cause everybody here seem not having this problem but if I need, I will :)

For a set of allen bolt where should I found it ??

Comet 75; you can find the bolts at any auto parts dealer that carries Mr. Gasket and Team G stuff. They usually have a display. They are around $10. Hope this helps.

Not Sure I have the same headman part number but I had to make a spacer I believe it was about a half an inch and using the drop braket and it still did not clear. I ending up taking a hammer and putting a semi-circle shape dent in that particular header tube to get it to clear. It still distorts the power bar cover boot because when I turn the wheel the cover boot is so close it gets too hot.

had to add about 1 inch to 1 1/4 to the drop bracket.....headers and power steering just don't work together on maverick and comets...might still have the bracket cant remember after welding it to the frame cause the bolts tride to pull out

ok just to refresh this thread I had installed the bracket and doesn't work so today I solder a plate on this bracket to make it longer but I don't drop it straight, I give it a little angle to bolt my power stearing cylinder more at the front so the cylinder are passing between headers tube and trans. so it work. for how long I don't know but I will not step sidewalk with cause new bracket are realy near of the ground so i'll look for a better way next year cause we've already got snow here so my baby is put away for winter

Thanks to everybody who help me with that
    David

I used to use those hedders and fabbed a dropping bracket.
Worked ok when the engine was carburated.
The bracket has to be a solid reliabile mounting and not come loose using extra holes in the frame and fine thread grade 8 bolts and lock nuts.
Now I have shorty tube hedders with Fuel Injection that needs the oxygen sensors located near the out lets.
Put the steering cylinder back stock. Those problem are all gone now and no part of the exhaust hangs below the car.

Will my Hooker 6901s be this much of a hassle? I have had some guys say that some cars don't even need the bracket with Hookers.

I will find out this weekend, when my Hookers come in...Wish me luck.
