    Puh-lease!

I need to decide if the stock 6 cyl springs will give me the right height I want...

And if not, what good, reasonable, aftermarked lowering spring do you guys recommend?

    thanks in advance...:bananaman

Look at my avatar. My car has a transplanted 302, and I use the 6cyl springs. It sits down just right, and the handling is the same crappy handling as others I have driven with a stock 302 suspension. The V-8 springs are better for handling and ride, if you can get them. To get the car down, cut a coil or two.

There have been a couple of recent threads regarding putting in stronger coils, and cutting 1 to 1-1/2 coils to achieve a stffer, but lowered ride height.

http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=17692 I started this one last month...There are more out there.

cutting springs doesnt stiffen the ride....it only lowers tha car with the same spring rate that the springs already had....

if you want a stiffer ride...you need stiffer springs....

i had the 6 cyl springs in mine....they were 34 years old...so i replaced them with 302 springs w.o a/c and they feel the same...i took one link out of these...and i like the height....but the ride is still springy....i even replaced the shocks....maybe my stock shocks are too spongy.... dont know...

    just my $ .02

stmanser made a good point. Stiffer springs give a stiffer ride. My springs were new, but made for something with a 351, not sure if mav or not. But VERY stiff, and high. After cutting 1.5 coils off, it is right where I want it, and nice and tight.

I would try for new springs, rather than someone else's used springs. Older springs are likely to be more "springy".

I am not sure. I bought them from bmcdaniel a couple months ago. Never installed (new), but had been sitting around awhile. I will PM and ask him what model they were for. In the thread he offered them to me on, he said they were designed for a "351-into-Maverick Swap".

I love them. Everyone warned me "they will be too stiff" but I really like the ride.
