I have'nt really started on my daughter's Maverick besides gathering parts. I have a 302 I am putting together (in my spare time) and I have a c-4 that I got from Wes to go in it. I believe it has a 3.0 gear in it. I have an AOD in my 71 F100 behind a 351w but I cannot get it tuned right in order to get any gas mileage with it. I am luckey to get 14 mpg with it. I am thinking of putting the c-4 in my truck and going back to a 3.25 gear. When it was set up with a 351w and 3 speed manual I could get 18-18 mpg on the interstate if I drove it easy. Then put the AOD in the Maverick behind the 302. I know that the tunnle may need worked but pretty sure I could get it to fit. Do you think the Maverick with a moslty stock 302, AOD and 3.0 gears would be easy on gas? Can it be tuned to run good and get out of it's on way and still get decent mileage? With gas prices going through the roof here I'm second guessing building her this car but she really wants it. I should be looking for a Geo Metro. lol\ I guess my real question it.. What's the best mileage I could hope for? clint
todds' 302 gets around 18 or so on the highway...if he keeps his foot out of it in town it can pull 14 or so.
