so i pulled a 302 out of a 74 mav and it had power steering. i'm going to be putting it in my none power steering car. my probleam is that the power steering pump drove the fan and i can't find other pullys to put on. they all have 3 bolts on the lower pully and my engine has 4. what could i possibly do to fix this little probleam. i threw away all the power steering stuff so i can't just put a useless pully their. any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.
You sure that isn't a 289 and not a 302 ... 289's had 3 hole dampers and crank pulleys ... When I restored my car the only pulley's I had were from a fully optioned car ... I ended up buying a set of single groove March pulleys to solve the problem.
i meant all the engines at the junk yard had 3 bolts, even the trucks, and my engine had the 4. i really wasn't that clear on that.
The 289's and early 351w used a 3 bolt crank pulley. You will need to look at 69 and later cars for the proper pulleys.
I know your frustration! I wound up doing like Dan did and went with a March setup. I converted to a serpentine belt at the same time.
how hard is it to go to serpintine belt set up. and could i get it off a 5.0 from like a crown vic or something like that.
