This has been touched on by a few threads, but not entirely.

Has anyone rewired around the box so it can be removed?

Has anyone started looking at the wiring to do this? I am going to start, but with 14 wires, I would hate to get into this and find out someone else has done it.

BTW--I asked the local Ford Parts guy and he said it is really easy, but against the law to share the information. Even if it was law for only one year.

These things are going out on some cars, and mine has a "hot spot" that looks like it is almost burnt through on one of the contacts. I am going to rewire it before it shuts down my car.

    Any help? Team effort?

As discussed in the other thread ... you can splice the wires at the underhood bypass and remove the box ....

Scoop, I just ran out and started shorting them together with a jumper. You'll see 2 red wires with blue tracer going into the same connector on the "drivers side" of the connector so to speak. Run a jumper wire from them to the white wire on the "passenger side" of the connector. Disconnect your yellow box and your off... (y)

Edit: opps, guess I should have hit the refresh button before posting.

    Duh...I missed that.

Mine had 2 red/blue in on hole and a red in the other, at the top end of the T, then nothing in the middle, then a white at the bottom of the T.

I checked my red button to see if all 3 reds lit up when pushed, but the button was dead all the way through.

I went ahead and connected all 4 wires together. Seems to run ok.

    Any suggestions otherwise?

Also, why couldn't the Ford guy tell me this? the note says "this can only be done on previously sold vehicles, ...and not on any unsold or new car (I assume first owner) even if requested". It seems that since I am second owner, ie the car has been "previously sold" that he could tell me how to do this.

Too bad I spent a good hour tracing connections over the yellow box, tracking wires through the car, and labeling everything before I was told to "read it again". My teachers always told me "read it over" but I would never listen.

They also always told me that I never listen :tsk:

Yea, mines the same way. Thats what I meant, 2 red wires with blue tracer going into the same connector. I couldn't get the red wire to do anything, I assume it dosen't need to be connected. My car runs fine with just the blue/red and white wires connected.

Sure wish I could find my digital camera.

Guys, after removing the box did anything else stop working? Dome lights, buzzer? I'm about to go out and jumper right now.

If you remove the red button and join all those wires together, then remove the yellow box, everything will work as normal.

I grabbed all the wires from the red button switch, and hooked them up together, no problems noted yet. Everything seems to work.
