ok just so you guys know i'm not lazy (well actually i am ) i did some searching for this question but there are way to many posts on this topic... i recall someone asking the same thing but again can't seem to find the post. anways i'm done with the rebuild of the whole front end and just tonight i started puting on the disk brakes until i came to the brake lines. and then i went hum? my question is which which way did you guys route your brake lines? it seems the lines on the caliper come out and point towards the front of the car therefore making the bend and turn quite ugly.. i'm sure its fine but i'm just not to keen on it. :16suspect i can see since the drum lines come out differantly so you can route them to the hard line however since the calipers are differant the hardline is facing the wrong direction. i had a whole stainless set up for it however it seems ford decided to make the threads in the calipers uncommon for any such AN fitting or Pipe thread know to man so i ended up using stock lines. oh well guess i'll save the lines for my other car either way i'm probably just going to route them to make them so they don't kink but again just wanting to see what you guys did or better yet some photos. thanks
I Moved My Rubber/hardline Bracket Forward And Made The Sharp Bend And Run The Line Under The Fuel Line On Drivers Side , I Was Lucky To Had A 77 I Was Scrapping Out For A Guide
I keep meaning to post these pics but procrastination seems to be my forte. At the suggestion of one of the other members (think it might have been Daydreamer) I ran new lines straight to the stock drum brackets and eliminated the awkward bend in the hoses that you would otherwise end up with.
got any photos? funny i saw the post you were asking the same thing i was... lol! thanks for the images! but ah ic.. so you just redid the hard line then. guess i gotta get a flare tool now. i just wish ford didn't make such a weird thead in the capiler i'd have this solved already so if i ordered the lines for a maverick they would still be kinked correct? and so the hardlines on disk brake maverick vs drum maverick are differant?
Derrick, I didn't flare the lines myself, I bought pre-flared lines of the approximate length I needed, bent them and used adapters at the caliper end. I found in attempting to do my own double flares that I was so pathetic it just wasn't worth it. Either that or the rented flaring tool I got wasn't up to snuff, but I always figure it's a poor workman who blames the tools, so... As far as the hard lines being different between drum and disc-equipped vehicles, they're the same as far as I know. At least on the '75 I parted out they were, just had a different mounting bracket, but still the same 180 degree bend to come around to the hose.
ah thanks dude... yeah i don't wanna attempt to do that either.. it would proabably come out really bad. but i did find out something else though about the lines on these cars. funny the hardline on this car is a 3/16" and all brakelines according to the 4 parts stores i went to and what they had in stock were all for 1/4". even my other mavericks are 1/4" but for some reason this 75 is 3/16" so i had to find an adaptor.... after going to 4 parts stores i found the 3/16" female tube to 1/4" Male tube adaptor. anyone else run into this problem? i know many of you guys here have listed parts for this conversion as well as suspention... but i think i'm gonna list down what i've have tired and didn't work. like i found out mustang dust shields don't work nor do a few other things on granada swap. either way gonna bleed to the brakes, double check and tighten the bolts, slap on the wheels and tires and take it for a spin... then get it alined this weekend. wish me luck
http://www.mustangsplus.com has a hard line adapter kit for mustangs with the granada conversion. Would this kit work just as well on a maverick?
