It took me long enough thats for sure lol. With my job and trying to keep my house , my sisters house and all the cars running I`ve been purdy busy . To get the van ready I pulled all the smog crap off of it , replaced the cats with exhaust pipe , replaced the muffler with a glasspack (I got the longest one I could so it wouldn`t be so loud), got some chome wheels to replace the junkyard ones, put on a K&N air cleaner , put on some 4 ply sidewall tires and replaced the broken side window . Gee where does all my money go off to any way ? Sorry about the bad picture but it was 11:30 at night when I got home so it was a little dark out .
Thanks but thats no new addition , its the same mav thats in my signature. Robert did some tranny work on it for me and it just took me a realy long time to get everything to where I could get it home. Well realy this place still isn`t ready for it to be home but I had a small chance to get it up here and took it . The car is purdy dent free but it has bondo in both the rear 1/4 panes and in the front drivers side fender. The front sub frame has a rust hole or two and the torque boxes are toast. Robert said it should be okay to drive aroud town to go back and forth to work but no high speed stuff on the hiway . I`ll do my best to cut out and patch up the bad spots but I`m not so sure I wana rebuild the front suspention now .
Repairing rust is always the most dreaded task IMO. Then again I'm no expert bodyman. I am pretty good at fabbing metal etc.....but repairing rust is another chore in itself. The torque boxes would be the hardest but I believe Grabber75 redid all the frame on his and torque boxes. Might wanna get some pointers from him. He's a nice guy and a real mavericker. Also WardF is good at rust repair. He did Dave's(maverickGrabber) Grabber hood rust lip repair. The most important thing is make sure you get all the rusted metal away or the repair will be short lived. Good Luck and glad you got it back.
My front suspention rebuild kit and 7/8s sway bar just got in and the drilled and slotted rotors are on the way (gess that means I need better wheels and tires now :evilsmile ) . I prolly won`t bother putting them on the car untill I get the rust problems all took care of so it could be a while . 1badmav , I have a stick welder a mig welder a grinder with the cut off wheel and a saws-all , would I be able to repair the frame and torque boxes with them tools or is there something else I don`t know about ? Will the cut off wheel be good enough to cut off the torque boxes ? If you don`t know I`ll pm Ward and grabber75 . Thanks .
