My new lower control arm ('73 mustang piece) came with two metal washers, I see nothing like it on the factory piece. It has a warning on the bag to STOP and check the instructions, but it's not like it came with any. Can anyone shed some light on where these go? Looks like it might be to cap the bushings or something.
You might want to post a pix so we know exactly what you're talking about. I know there are washers on the original spec control arms that are essential for alignment. Whether these are similar or not is hard to say without seeing them.
Bruce; I think you are talking about the Camber adjustments on the lower arms. They are big washers with a flat side. They are used to set the alignment. The instuctions tell you to put the washers straight up and down, until you can get an alignment.
straight up and down with reference to what earl? I believe you are correct about what they are. Do they "cup" the ball joints or the joint where the arm attaches to the car?
Bruce; they go on either side of the control arm, where it attaches to the frame. Looking at the arm from the side, the flats go up and down. This puts the arm in the center of the adjustment.
Actually, I call APP and they said those are for the sway bar bushings, they are purely to keep the bushing from getting torn up by the sharpness of the hole in the lower control arm where the sway bar attaches.
Cool, I got the same stuff with my new lower arms and just didn't use them. Now I know what to do with them. Thanks Bruce!
