HEy all. I had been searching through here and found alot of great info on wedging a 460 into a maverick. I have a 460 and c6 layin around in my garage and well, who wouldnt want a high compression 460 in their mav? But anywho, I had found a video named 'robertsmonster' i think, where he had constructed the whole front end out of some square tubing. Anyone have any other info on this? Like better pics or specs? Would I have to use a m2 front end or could I just build around the stock one?

Is this a 460ci, or a 390 bored and stroked?

I have access to a 390 (6.1L) that runs, but didn't think it would fit. So it sits out in the back lot...

Robert Raney is the man for this topic. I am sure he will reply soon. I agree big motors just need to go into these cars.

    BHS,

you sure are getting slow responses on this thread....

Personally, I would like to see more input, since I could get that 6.1 within 24 hours...

There was a thread a while ago that had a link to website where a guy put a mopar 440 in his Maverick,
www.redreckracing.freeserve.co.uk/Welcombe.htm I don't know if this is of any use or not but there is some in process pics that may be informative.

Roberts monster would be mine it has a mustang II front end, there have been some done after some serious work to the shock towers but the way I see it the way mine is it's easy to work on. if you go to fordmaverick.com and do a search there there are lots of pictures from the last 3 years and info......the info is here too but the pics are gone.

Scott, that motor is wider than the 460 and the older FE big blocks (as I understand it).

Also, it'd be 'very' costly to get serious horsepower from it.

When I was thinking about buying that engine, I was talked out of it by some guys 'in the know' - saying a 460 based engine would be the way to go (if going big cubes).

But don't hold ME to it. 'Just passing on the info I gained during our conversations about that engine.

In the new Summit there is a 302 block that can be bored and stroked to I think it said 471ci. How would you like to have that between your fenders?

*Looks for distributer* I think that engine is the wrong breed for a Mav, or maybe the dizzy just isnt installed yet? :D

Hate to be off-topic, but what is it with small furry animals (currier11 & stockhatch)?

I figured the 6.1L was too big, it looked wider than my 302, and wider, with the shock towers, it NOT GOOD!!!
