I know that Shelby Cox has a six cylinder two door that she was wanting to sell. She lives in Seattle. I think I can get to her through a friend. She was wanting $1,000 (a bit much IMHO) bit the boddy was really straight. FYI

Do you still have a way of getting a hold of Shelby? I have a friend down that way that's really wanting a Maverick project.

I saw Shelby's Maverick last year, at a car show in Auburn. They had already put the disc brakes on it & low profile tires (16" I think) & nice rims..The body was straight. But, it needs lots of TLC...Very good project car...If I had $1,000, I'd get it...
Hey, Comet155! If you want to try the tires next Friday, that's cool! My wife & I have Friday's off. We'll be home all day. If by chance, we run to the store...the workshop is open, Ray's Maverick is open, help yourself..We may be in & out, who knows? Getting excited about next Friday. Sounds like we'll have at least 3 Mavericks & 2 Comets going. I'm working on more...

Cool. Just don't open fire or brain me from behind if you see some red-neck rifling through your workshop! LOL!

One another note...(not to be a party pooper), but are the fuel prices starting to hurt you guys? I haven't fired up the rig in a few weeks now. Just wondering when/if you guys will start modifying your habits?

I still take out the Comet when possible. I realize the gas prices are getting skyhigh, but I love to cruize & enjoy the car.
Well, it looks like Friday (Aug 19th) will be a Test & Tune, Street Legals, drag racing at Pacific Raceways. Could almost be called a MCCI Mini Meet Drags. LOL
Anyway, we have 5 cars going so far (3 Mavericks & 2 Comets). Looking to increase the numbers & make a big showing. Something people will talk about for a long time (the most Mavericks & Comets together at the dragstrip). If we're lucky, they'll have the Car Club Challenge (CCC) Ford vs Chevy. For an extra $5, we can race more often. Once you loose (if you do) in the CCC, then you change your number on the car & get in the test &tune, street legal line....If you know someone else with a Maverick/Comet, let them know. Lets make this a big event! If it's recieved well by everyone, maybe we can have a annual event.
    People so far:
    Coop 73 Comet
    Paul 73 Comet
    Scott 73 Maverick
    Ray 72 Maverick
    Bill 70 Maverick
    Let's go people....
    Coop

Feul prices have been hurting me for a long while. I've already modified my habits. this will only be my second time out this year. Racing fuel is exactly the same price as last year however.

Eh, Ya know what? My 351 Cleveland powered Mach 1 with its 3.50:1 traction lok is a fun car. I see it this way: I drive it once in a while and when I do it its more fun (and STILL) cheaper than Disney or Six Flags.
    :bananaman
Wonder if our turtle-like-kickback-oriented government will do something to releive the pressure? Geeze didn't Dubya hold hands with the Saudi King? That should count for something right? :hmmm:

But I doubt we'll ever see $1.50 regular again. The oil companies realize that we'll pay what whatever they want.

It's not only what WE will pay........but what China and other growing economies will pay as well. Supply and demand.

Oil is used for more than just "GAS". Plastics, fuel oil, on and on and on......

    Congrats on the 74! Cool.
Well, if you're going to be busy on Friday, maybe I should try out the rags before then.
On a side note: Ain't you a little concerned about leaving things open? I'd be a little nervous that someone might help themselves to some discounts...lol!
