I was wasting time at Barnes & Noble this weekend and found a Ford production stats book. I know some here have seen these but I wrote down a few numbers.

    1971 Grabber production: 38,963
    1972 Grabber production: 35,347
    1973 Grabber production: 32,350
    1974 Grabber production: 23,502
    1975 Grabber production: 8,473

1976 Maverick 2 door production: 60,000+ no breakdown on Stallion numbers.
    The Stallion package was $329.

As usual, the book ignored Comet GT production so I didn't write the total
    number down.

I did get the GT option prices for the years. This would have included the blackout treatments, dual racing mirrors, high back buckets, stripes and bright trim rings and center caps as well as the hood scoop.

    1971-$178.80
    1972-$173.28
    1973-missed it
    1974-$243.70
    1975-missed that one too

    Options costs for 1974:

    A/C-$382.70
    Disc brakes-$33.90
    P/S-$106.20
    AM radio-$61.40
    AM with special speakers-$115.50
    AM/FM-$221.60
    Monoaural-$129.10
    Floor shifter-$13.80
    Forged wheels-$153.80
    Forged wheels with GT option-$123.80

    So....

I would want to restore mine to the Stallion look. That would look cool. Guess I would have to find the decals and OE paint schemes for it.

Me or you may not have been alive, but it wasn't THAT long ago. Of course there has been normal inflation since then, but a quarter was still a quarter. Mind you the same amount of money would have gotten you alot farther as shown by the price of cars. :)

So our '74 Grabber was one of the lower # produced. Cool. (y)

Is there some way you can tell what options it came with, like the radio and stuff?

    Missing my old '70 Maverick
Using THIS calculator, it would take approximately $5.14 in today's dollar to purchase something that cost one dollar back then.

In 1970, if a car cost $2000 (roughly the cost of a Maverick I believe), we would pay $10,294.73 in today's dollars.

I uhh....left them out since I was looking for V8 cars!

How is Grabber doing? Cristina wants to see
pics of the little monster. Can she and your son trade cat pics?
