Hey everyone, Im glad to find the board. I have a 66 comet 200 cid, there is no gas entering the carb. When I unhook the line that goes from the pump to the carb and crank it no fuel comes out. I hooked a hand pump up to the supply line from the tank and it could suck gas fine. So all fingers point at the fuel pump, before buying a new one I want to make sure the pump itself is bad and not the part inside the motor the drives the pump. So what im asking is if I have the pump off the motor and hooked up to a fuel supply should it be able to move any gas by me pushing the lever by hand? Or is that not fast enough to make it do anything?
I doubt you will be able to push the pump by hand much unless the spring has gotten weak. Replaceing the fule pump is never a bad idea if it looks like it has been on there for a while. This forum is for the 70-77 Mavericks and the 71-77 Comets which have mostly the same body as the Mavericks.
fuel pumps are cheap nowadays- i got one for $16 @napa just get urself a new one and try it out if u have a 66 u might get better advice at a falcon forum but people on this forum work on all kings of years so i think u'll be able to find good info Good Luck
get a new one, it cant hurt, i doubt its the eccentric on the cam, but it is possible. did you put your hand pump right on the line that goes to the pump?
