Hello all! Many are aware that I am in the house buying process. I am now in my 10-11 th week of escrow, in what has become a buying nightmare--the latest is that it is supposed to close tomorrow, so I talked to the current tenants and they said in mangled english that they would move out "sometime next week" and that they need the money from our sale to close the deal on their sale, and that they would move out just as soon as their house closed!!! NO F*$#ing way!!! BS, if this house closes on Tue, it is mine!! Not yours to live in till it is convenient to move, so I called my realtor told her to hold up the whole process till they agree to move out upon my closing. See, they would not pay me rent, due to the fact that they have a foreclosure on the place, and they obviously have jacked up credit right now, so what would they care about me paying rent...right? What are my rights? Can I physically go in there with a bunch of friends upon closing and move them out onto the street? I don't want to go through a lengthy eviction process. I am living with my parents-in-law for 2 weeks now because my deadline for my apt expired and they had already scheduled other tenants to move in....Damn, meanwhile my whole life is literally packed into 2 garages on the other side of town and I get quality "bonding" time with my parents-in-law. (they are extremely nice though...no complaints about them) Anyway, this brings me to the point of my story. My apt gave me till yesterday to move my cars out. I had to get all three out, including the mav. Prob is that the mav does not really run..see I have been waiting for my house so I can restore it. Anyway, I have been sh*tting purple twinkies out over this and stressing that after all these years I might be forced to get rid of the mighty mav. By some miracle I discovered a storage rental at the bottome of the hill. There they rented me a 30' spot for 87$ a month, perfect for 2 cars!! Since the mav does not suck gas from the tank any more, I have the top of the carb off, and I fill the float bowl with gas. I take the mav, and I put the car into neutral, the apt street is sloped! GREAT! I let the mav coast out, down the apt street, out onto the residental street, and coast right to the stop sign...Good so far. I have to stop for crossdirectional traffic. The traffic subsided and I fired the beast up, with life roaring through the dual dinomax setup. I hit it, hard, and the car lit up the wheels and smoked the wheels through the entire intersection! Awe, I miss that car. As soon As I got into the other lanes, I shut off the motor, wanting to preserve my dear small amount of gas in the float bowl. I coast the car till the end of that main street, coast right through the next signal and turn right, and coast down a very long hill, all without the motor! Man, it sure coasts good. Brings back some memories. There is a stop sign at the bottom of the hill. Judging on the no-traffic situation, I blow the stop sign and hang a left . There is a slight up hill part so i fire it up again. This time the gas lasts ownly about 4 seconds, enough for me to get a short burst of gas. The car tackles the uphill part-barely, and then coasts all the way down the slightly sloped street all the way till the end and right into the storage!!! A mile and change and only 8 seconds of motor running or less!! Quite a feat! On the bright side, I am picking up an 87 stang gt for $200 complete with the 5.0 injected roller motor and all mechanicals, so in a few weeks, I can begin this project. Anyway, just thought I would share this story, cause it has been about 3 years since I drove that car(or "coasted" It)
jeremy, funny story but you neglected to tell us what your mpg was (ha-ha). i remember a friend went fishing one time in his el camino. his fuel pump went out so he stuck the hose from his fishing boat gas tank through the hood and into the carb. he kept squeezing the bulb every time the car started to sputter. smoked something awful since it was 2 stroke gas. good luck with your house problems. i'd shy away from bringing the friends unless there the sherriff's.
If you close on the loan, and if the possession date on your sales contract is one in the same they have no right to stay, in most states it has to be specifically written in the sales contract and you have to agree in writing to rent it back to them until such time they can move out. I don't know what type of loan you have but, some Government loans, RHDA ( Frmers Home Administration) for one, will not allow the buyer to rent the property back to the seller, as some programs restrict the Property type to primary residence only, and that would make the property investment property. If only for a short period of time.
Sh!tting purple twinkies eh? Reminds me of what I had to do the other day when I locked myself out of the house with keys to the car inside and I had to go pick my bro up from work 5 miles away! Only tools I had were a pare of Vice Grips. Some people down the street were throwing an old lamp away so I ran down and jerked the cord off, ran a strand of the cord from the battery to the coil and the other strand to the duraspark II box. Then got under the car and dissconnected the shift linkage from the trans since you can't get it out of park unless the key is turned on. Put a old lawn mower rim behind the rear wheel and fired it up with the vice grips on the solenoid, got under the car and put it in reverse with the vice grips. The car backed over the rim and went across teh driveway backwords! Had to chase it across the driveway and jump in the passenger side, slide aross and nail the brake. Then I slowly backed it into a tree, wedged a lawnmower rim under both of the back wheels this time, got under it and pulled it into drive with the vice grips, jumped in, drove over the rims and off I went praying the whole 5 miles that the steering colum didn't lock out on me going down the road. When I got to the grocery store where my bro works I had to slowly drive the front bumper up against a light pole, jump out with the car still running and run in and grab the spare key from my brother. People were looking at me strange when I pulled against the pole and then ran in the store while the car was still running.
When I bought my house the owner only had it on the market for 3 days when I made an offer. They told me up front they could not get out by the time I wanted to move in. As part of the contract I rented the house back to the prior owner for 2 months. I charged them 1.5 X what my Mortgage payment was so made a little money on top of it. They paid me the 2 months rent at closing ... Just make sure everything you do is in a written agreement.
I was thinking the same thing. Jeremy did post the other day the board, hopefully he gets on here more now that his Mustang is just about done.
