Not a whole lot of Maverick Stuff but some of the more notable findings: NOS 73-77 Fender NOS Radiator Support NOS Front Valance 3 Boxes full of various NOS stuff including marker and turn signal lenses, arm rest bases, heater control switches and covers, black Grabber tailight bezels, etc. 2 used but very clean 73 Mav Center Caps Used but straight 70-72 front Bumper Lincoln Versailles rear 72 Maverick in Car Corral I didn't buy anything - all I was really looking for was some NOS Chrome J-moldings but had no luck.
Best thing to do about the J moldings is find a car that has the painted ones. Then send them out to get chromed.
I guess you missed the Grabber hood? You didn't miss much. It was covered in green spray paint. When I tilted it up, I could hear the rust tumbling around in the inside of the front lip. I very quickly set it down (gently....so it didn't crumble) and walked away.
We waited around until the rain began to taper down so didn't start checking out the car corral and the infield until around noon. After that it was fairly tropical - walking throught the mud while getting sunburn on your face and neck. We didn't see all the vendors and I didn't see the hood. Did you happen to stop at Hooters on the way home? We stopped in for some wings and beer and they had some Top Notch Hooters girls out in full force!! Dan
There wasn't a price on the hood. Since I don't have the welding skills needed for rust repair, I personally would pay more money for something with little to no rust. Even though they are hard to find. We wre wanting to stop at Hooters, but the traffic was a little rough right there. There was a beautiful 70 Mav sitting outside of turn 1. Blue with white stripes down the sides and black stripes down the hood, and black around the tailights. Don't know if it was a Grabber or a clone.
Yellow Comet GT I too waited out the rain on Sat. I was about to give up when the blue skies broke across the top of the grandstand around noon. Did anyone see the yellow '73 Comet GT in the infield car show area? A lady in her 60's owns that car. They are still finishing up some details but it looked pretty sharp. Dennis Carpenter had what appeared to be a NOS grill ornament for the Maverick, the one mounted in the center. I was there to buy truck parts and didn't see a price. So, have at it Craig, Dennis and the rest of you cowboys. His reproduction business is in Concord, NC just down from the race track. You shouldn't have trouble finding him on the web; Dennis Carpenter Reproductions. Seth
Another one... It looked pretty sharp. No good looking Mavericks unless I missed them. Remember this is a BIG show so I could have missed one.
