I have read that to remove the glass from a door you use a screwdriver and pop the center section through then reach behind and squeez the clip and remove. On my window it appears the center part of that clip has a head and should be pryed out. My question is, which is correct? also as old as these clips are I am afraid of breaking it. does anyone sell replacements?

Use a Philips Head screwdriver ... place it directly in the center of the retainer. Whack it fairly hard with your hand .. the center pin will pop out the back and you can remove the glass ...

ok, but does this break the clips? Like I said mine appear to have a head on them. Maybe installed in reverse from what you guys are talking about? where can you get replacements . Just in case.

    Thanks
    Dave

I thought the same thing Dave, but then I tried it, and it was a whole lot easier than digging them out or pushing them out from behind. It's not really a head, just looks like it. (As I say that, yours will probably turn out to be different :D)

The way my luck is going I'll push them out and I'll have some weird hollow channel and the glass will fall to the bottom and shatter. LOL, OK I'll give it a try but I was hoping I had a source for replacement clips before I did this "just in case"

You SHOULD have exactly what the guys above talked about. I have seen in one case where a glass shop put some type of aftermarket clip with a head on it that was WAY wrong for the car. It didn't hold up either. If yours doesn't have the center that you can push out then it's a good possibility that someone has changed it out with something different. If so, you need to get the proper clips for it. Good luck.

$35.00????? you told me $50.00. Geez the new guy always get taken advantage of.

Rayzor, Thanks for the heads up. nI swear these look like they have heads on them. But I feel a bit better because I found several of these "heads" under the carpet so I am assuming it was factory.

When my "clips" broke I went to the local auto glass place. The guy reached into a drawer and gave me a handfull so they must be cheap and easy to come by.

Yes I understand that they are 2 piece. The center pushing through is what makes me think I don't have a standard clip as I don't see a center piece to push through. what I see looks like a plastic head of a nail. I will look closer and put more light on it, but it looks Like what I would expect to see looking at the back of what everyone is describing, not the side I am pushing through.

Gee, I hope that 35.00 is for both clips and not each piece : )

(for $35.00 I'll just epoxy it in place)

The side that you see when you remove the door panels will basically look perfectly smooth ... However, there is a pin in the center ...
