Are you parting out the Cougar? What kind of shape is it in? The disc brakes should swap to your Maverick.

Usually a number will indicate a std non - locking diff and a letter will indicate a locking diff.

Without shock tower and other mods??

One thing I've read on here severtal times, is a Windsor won't fit well without modifcations.....

....and a Cleveland is a bit bigger than a Windsor

Not many people run the FMX for performance applications. Although I am told it's design is the basis for the AOD.
Interesting though in 71 you could get a M or Q code engine which would be a 351-4v and then you would have got a C6. But they only produced 6,858 M code automatics all models and 1 Q code automatic car in 71. Your car if not an XR7 is one of 25,043 standard hardtops built in 71.

    I have a 73 XR7 Hardtop Q code automatic project car. which is 1 of 2,225.

Well i have a standard model i was thinking about fixing the old girl up but it is way too rusty in the front so i will pull the good parts and scrap the rest.I am negotiating with the guy on a 351c-4v also, its in parts but he is a real ford fanatic so he kept everything lubed up..
