maverick swap headers from hooker are going to cost 1000.00 dollars thats american not canadian.i think i will get some flanges and beers and get my local exhaust builder to try to create some for me.he must have a kid to put through college or something.i know he could use the money holley corp. has enough!anyone ever tubed the shock towers?i am thinking of using 1x3 tubing to reinforce the towers so i can gain the most space.
i bought hooker headers for my maverick for $165...i will give them to you for $500 and you can save the other $500.... they are on the vehicle and you would have to wait for them... or you can just call summit and buy a pair for $150 i think..... $1000?? maybe i didnt read the post correctly.... but thats way to much
Try this place: http://www.critesrestoration.com/mustang.htm They have FE headers for 67-70 Mustang. You might could make those work.
well i started cutting my shock towers today.until the cord shorted out while i wasa standing on it. ouch!!!!!the dinosaur swap is correct.i know i should use a 302 but everybody has a 302.i also have a 460 i can use but its stock.i will check out that link thanks hawkco.6375hkr is the numbers i was looking at for headers.
good deal hawkco only 329.00 i think they will be here before the summer is over!my pipe benders won't build headers anyway they said they will modify a set for me though.
Heddman makes FE swap headers too. I don't know that they would be cheaper, but it's worth a look. Good luck Dave
True, but, there's a guy on here (or at least someone who posted a pic) of a BBF in a Mav where the towers were modified differently than the 'normal' method we see. Instead of cutting the inboard side of the towers, he took out a strip of material from the shock tower where it meets the fender well - if my description makes sense. It was hard to tell it wasn't stock. Good luck with the FE!
There is also a Mav around that has an entire 70 Mustang front subframe. It looks stock, but the fact that it has the larger engine bay allows the big engine to fit. The only thing is that the front rims must either be skinny, or have more b/s than stock, otherwise the front tires would be outside the fenders. If I were a rich man... (dreaming) I would put a 70 Stang front frame under a Mav, then fit that engine bay with Boss 9 towers, then a Boss 9 engine... A totally stock looking Boss 429 (or SOHC) Maverick! Dave
well i am giving up on putting the fe in the mav i bought a rebuilt 302.the parts are much cheaper and i can get it going sooner.i just found a 64 fairlane for the fe motor!
