Rayzorsharp; you and all the folks in the way of Dennis.....either get out or keep your head down. We are praying for all of you, and hope you all are safe and sound. Let us know when it is all over. Earl
tying everything down right now. According to NOAA it's aiming right for Demopolis and still be a monster when it gets here.
6:00 pm cdst here in Bama. So far nothing but rain and a little wind, nothing major yet. TV saying it will be about 4:00 am before the eye gets to me here. I'm also in the path, just north of Tuscaloosa about 36 miles. Hope I've got everything tied down and am just waiting for the worst to pass. Will try to update ya'll tommorrow if I've still got electricy.
All I know is we just went hit some of the worst rain I have ever driven the Mav though. Hydro plaining continuously, and I was haveing a hard time keeping the car in my lane with all the wind. I couldn't even remotely see where I was going even with the wipes on HI. I gotta very wet knee right now from where the winshield was leaking. Strange thing is once we got into Atlanta, the rain almost stopped, but as soon as we got out of ATL, the rain almost imediately started up again.
It is a big storm...we are expecting 6-8' surf tomorrow morning in Surfside, TX...and we are 600 miles away! Guess where I will be at 6am tomorrow morning, surfboard under my arm, calling in sick for work...
typed a long post, hit submit right when my power went out. long story short, Jamie, keep an eye on that leak to make sure it isn't the bottom of the windshield support rusting. We've survived here, lots of rain, 5 3/4 inches by the rain guage... lots of wind, very little damage... soaking wet and cold.
Nah, it just leaks in like 3 places along the very top of the windshield where there are cracks in the rubber. Getting the windows redone is one of the next things we are going to do. Glad everyone made it ok.
Lost juice about 11:00 last nite still waiting for it to come back on, on my laptop and battery is fading fast. No damage just a lot of wind and rain.
Surf was pretty good this morning in Texas. I stayed out for 3 hours...that is a long time for one session. Here in Texas, you gotta get it when you can. When you are a surfer, you have a love-hate relationship with Hurricanes and tropical storms...
stepside, I hope you get your power back soon. We were out two weeks after Charley. I hope everyone out there is doing alright.
Bless the guys at Alabama Power! Got the juice back about 11:00 am today. I couldn't reach my deliverly customer by phone this morning so I didn't take the chance to see if they were open or not, decided to wait untill tommorrow to try to deliver. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers folks. Even though I am about 200 miles inland, you never know about hurricanes and even worst the tornados that sometimes spin off them. Hope Ray and everybody else further south faired as well.
