ok after like 3 months of these disk brakes sitting around in my garage i finally have a weekend free to do this conversion. they are 77 granada brakes.. now i got all the parts.. blah blah blah... but something don't look right when i started to put the caliper back on the bracket. the retaining key just doesn't look like its on their right. now according to what they looked like b4 (see picture) when i got them (though they were not all together) the key looked like it sat all the way in and didn't stick out like the way the other pictures looked (see pic with pointing finger). what i'm i doing wrong here? or is that the way its suppsed to stick out that much? now being cixelsyd i mean dyslexic i could have something on backwards but then again i don't know what this things is supposed to look like in the first place. so is that on there right and is supposed to look that way or i do have something wrong? i mean this seems like the only way the caliper will fit on. thanks in advance!
shoot i really can't remember.. the stainess ones? if so... they won't work. seems ford decided to no use a standard size for the brake hose theads... they are not 1/8 thats too small or 1/4 thats too big. so i just bought the stock ones ... i went to 5 differant places to find adaptors.. no luck so my brakes on right
i just took mine apart the spring was on top against the caliper. just opposite from your first picture
the pic on the left the key looks fine.... i have done brakes on 74-77 ford trucks....and the key looks ok to me
no. sorry i did not take a picture before taking it apart. i can put it back together and take a picture if you like.
Turn The Spring Upside Down And Put It Between The Calpier And The Clip/bracket And Drive It In With A Flat Punch Till You Can Line Up The Hole Centered With The Shoulder Bolt
ah ok so both are wrong... so i'll put the clip on the other side then. funny thing is i ended up taking the whole front end apart! upper and lower control arms springs and all. started doing one thing then i was like ok since i'm here might as well do this too. well now the whole front end is apart! just gave myself more to do! but yes thanks all for the heads up on the key part
