We went to a local car show just walk around and look at the cars. We left our Mavericks home because it was 97 degrees with matching humidity and neither of us wanted to sit in the blazing sun all day. Not too many cars were there, which I blame on the heat, but we were pleased to see a Maverick there I had not seen before. I never did find out who the owner was, but was nice to see another Maverick making the show curcuit. Check it out.
Thanks for the pics Jean. I havn't seen that one around here either. Nice car and it's PA inspected. Although missing head light trim. Where exactly was the show? Mike
The show was The West End Car Show in Gilbert, Pa, just few miles from Broadheadsville. I've been to this show a few years back and there were alot less cars there this year. It was so hot I think a lot of folks decided to stay in the air-conditioning. I noticed the missing headlight doors too. I really like what was printed on the back of the car.
how come i never see any mavericks on the road when i am down there?been goin' there 5 years and never a maverick are you guys hidin' them so i can't see em'?i deliver just off broadhead rd..
Hey Jean did you by chance see a Burnt orange color Jeep. All done up with a tilt front end. If so that was my Father's Jeep. He lives in Albrightsville. Jusy Wondering Mike
There is a place not far from Broadheadsville on 209 North were there are three Mavericks just parked. There are 2 ex-race cars parked on the treeline and a red 76' Maverick with a white top in the driveway. None of these cars ever move and the owner does'nt do anything with them either. ( and no, he won't sell them ). They are just wasting away. They are here, you just have to know where to look for them.
Yeah, I did see it. It was pretty slick looking. I have to check my pictures and see if it's in any of them.
i guess you're right i don't get up 209 much but i will look for them when i do.why is it so treeless around palmerton?i have always wondered about that.
Yes there was. I even told Dale that Scott would love that. The reason there are no trees in the Palmerton area is not because of a fire of any kind. There is a Zinc Company here that operated from the 1920's to the 1970's. During that time the Zinc Company, AKA Horsehead industries, belched out so much pollution in the form of lead and cadium ( spelling? ) that it literally killed all the vegatation for miles around. The one thing it did'nt kill was the oak tree in our backyard. It's almost 200 years old. The ground here is heavily polluted, but nearly all homeowners here have replaced the topsoil with good, clean soil, paid for by the Zinc Company. The one mountainside is currentley being re-vegatated by an organization that bought up several thousand acres of land, and so far it's looking pretty good. The Zinc Company still operates here, but the EPA has them under a VERY short leash.
thanks jean that is a question i have pondered for years.you are a deffinate asset to this forum.i see a lot of mine reclamation going on thats going to look a lot better around pa.
