after all my troubles with my mav. and the most recent issue of the tranny blowing up, I have decided to get me a decent job and forget about putting the mav. on the street anytime this year.. I plan on getting one of those new mini's to take down to L.A. every day.. so the future of my mav. is uncertain. I'm not selling it, not putting it on the road anytime soon(maybe for around town) but don't worry. It isn't getting junked, It won't really rust( I live in a DRY desert) so i don't know.. I just need something reliable for the time being. I've been looking for a drag car project to start on. was looking for a pinto. but maybe I'll hook the mav. up and turn it into a strip only car.. what do you guys think?

Race it! There is alot of guys on this board that have a awesome race car that second as a cool street rod. One thing is forsure, its alot easier and less aggrevating to have a primary car for everyday use, so you are not dependent on a project car to get you around. Owning a maverick, or any old car for that matter, is not always easy, but its the reward of being different and unique, that makes it worth the effort.

Don't worry about it too much james. I love the hell out of My mav, yet have driven it less than 100 miles in 10 years. It needs a total restro, and I refuse to do it until I have the $ to do it right.

Pick up a good trans car and slowly work on the mav. Careful about building a race only car-as you may want it for the street.

I have found the 86-93 5.0/302 mustangs to be EXTREMELY reliable. With the 5 speed and good old 302, I have racked up 186k original-valve covers never off miles on my 86 mustang.

Stay true to ford and the 302-nothing more fun than having a family of 302's

    Good luck

oh, I'll always stay true to ford.. I am not, however a ford only man (I.E., everything else sucks), I appreciate all cars, cept yugo's... and well, civic's.. I have decided that Im going to street it, going to get a new mini cooper sometime in june, to use as a commuter car to L.A. and back every day. like a mav.,not many people have em.. lol.. but anyways, after I get that all situated I'm going to take some student loan money and throw it into the mav. put a new engine/trans/rear in it, paint it, and put it on the street, as an around town car, and something to take to the strip on weekends. I will not sell it, ever. even though I only put maybe 30 miles on it, it is still my first car.. and a fun project..
