:hmmm: im not sure what to do next to the maverick i have some aftermarket flat top pistons,a mild cam, edelbrock performer rpm intake, holly 600cfm carb, hooker headers w/ custom 2-1/2" exhaust and a few other small things. What would be the next best thing to do, a guy at work told me that i should get a torq converter w/3500 stall and the guy @ the local ford shop told me heads what do i do with limited cash

enginewise the heads or some ignition mods would be best imo. i think i'd save the convertor until i had some good gears for the rear end. :)

i was also thinking of swaping the rear end with one from a reckers yard to save me some frustration  what would fit with the same bolt pattern of 5 on 4.5

try looking around for a 8" rear with a posi unit and some steeper gears. they're getting hard to find but with some patience and swap meet checking they can be found. or you can have a detroit locker and gears installed in your existing unit. now we're getting a little pricey though. i think mustang II's were good candidates for posi 8" rears. some others may be able to tell you what to look for.:)
