The 1970 I just bought has no fan belt. Instead....it has this little motor for the water pump/fan. Will this work? I have seen this on drag cars....but never had one before. I just want it to work long enough to get the car running so I can sell the motor. It is not wired up....it has two wires. Just hook up up to some juice and go?
Should work just fine...we run one like it on my Dad's car at the track. I'm not sure on the wiring though...you may just have to hook the wires up and see which way the water pump turns. If not the right direction, just reverse them and try it again. Should be fine for what you're wanting to do though. Later,
if you pull the fan off you won't have any fan at all. i run one on the race car but i also use an electric fan. you'll be able to start the motor but you won't want to run it too long.
I ran one just like that for a couple of years, on the street and at the track and it kept things very cool. I just swapped it out for an electric pump......
Craig that motor should run either direction so hooking it up backwards shouldn'tresult in frying it. Just need to hook it up and swap the wires if needed
I got it working this evening. Yes...you can reverse the direction. Got the car running again as well........Wooo Hoooo!!!
so craig you going to bring it to drag day for roundup ??looks like it would make a fun car to take down the track
The car has absolutly NO brakes. Push on the brakes.......fluid shoots out of the front brake line on the firewall near the heater fan motor....and out of the rusty brake lines on the rear axle. All 4 floorboards are gone. Some patch work was done....but still nasty. Car had a B & M floor shifter. Cable wasn't hooked up right. instead of missing with it........I cut a hole in the floorboard so I could reach down and put it in gear. Here is an interior shot.
If you want to sell that setup let me know I already have the motor, but need the pully's and the belt But email/pm me and we can talk.
