    Ok, so I have a 74 maverick engine and am putting 71 heads on it, the 74 has EGR doesnt it? I want to get rid of that, what do i have to do?

    Simply remove the EGR spacer under the carburetor and all associated vacuum lines. Has nothing to do with your heads. If you're keeping the original intake manifold, you'll want to replace the EGR spacer with a solid 1-inch spacer...

    I agree with the previous response. However, you may have to plug the PVS valve as I don't think you'll be able to pull it off without something to replace it. That is, if it doesn't mount on the thermostat housing. Otherwise, just find an newer thermostat housing to replace it. On the '77 Mav 250, I have a thermostat housing that shows where Ford had the older models PVS put into it, but its factory plugged on that year.
