IMO I think 50/50 is to much anti-freeze for where you are located.Water is the best coolant.Anti-freeze does just that, keeps the water from freezing plus has some anti corrosion inhiters added also to help keep things from cruding up.I have a Mustang with under drive pulleys on and if I use anything more than 70/30 in the summer (70% water-30% anti-freeze)it runs hot.I only go back to 50/50 in the winter.

Just make sure your timing is right and your not running lean ....

    I agree....

...with DM and the previous post. Check the timing and A/F ratio.

All the above is good advice. Are you sure you don't have a lower hose collapsing on you while cruising down the road? I've had that happen before and it's hard to find since you can't see it happening in the driveway easily.
Porbably been asked 100 times but any chance the head gaskets could be on backwards? WOn't that cause heating problems.
Is there a chance the radiator could just be too small for the set-up?

    ok guys...here is the latest

i scored a free shroud for fixing a friends pc.... then i bought a 17 inch flex fan... i took the heads off today to check a few things and swap the heads around for the alternator bracket mounting...the bracket broke all the way off when i had to loosen the belt for the flex fan replacement...

the combustion chamber is black...but not too black...in my opinion..it is running a little rich...which is not a lean condition,...

the antifreeze....when i put the heads back on i will run a more 60-40 or 70-30 water/Antifreeze ratio....

then i am sure we will egt things a little cooler....just with the shroud and 2 inch larger fan... the fan covers more of the raiator now and the shroud covers the whole radiator...

i would liek to thank everyone for theis inputs....and i will keep you all posted as to the outcome of all the changes...

    thanks again
