Let me start by saying, "I love these cars!".
The old saying goes, "everything that can go wrong, will".
Seems like everytime I turn around, something goes wrong. I started in January, getting the 73 Comet ready for this years car shows. The vacuum advance went out. Then the alternator went out. Then the starter switch went out. Then had an electrical problem (short), everytime I hit the brakes the car would die. Always something....Knowing this, I made sure I had all my bases covered. I have never taken a long road trip with my Comet, in the past 5 years of making it where it is today. I always stayed close to home, when it came to car shows. I figured if I were going to take a 600 mile round trip & be out of the country (states), I better be ready for anything. So, I made sure I had parts with me (alternator, starter selenoid, voltage regulator, coil, points, dist cap, rotor, belts, duct tape, fuses, tools, test light, etc). A little overkill. The trip north of the boarder was flawless. The car ran at 60 mph, all the way there, & back. It didn't even hiccup!!!!! 9 hr drive round trip. And that included a 3hr round trip ferry ride. Lets see, that's 6hrs driving time. LOL Let me add, that the people on Vancouver Island, BC are the greatest A. There were 6 cars at the Mini Meet A. The Comets out numbered the Mavericks 2 to 1 A. First time that I wasn't the only Comet A. The MCCI dash plaques are awesome A. I want to thank Cliff for his hospitality & awesome time A. I can't wait for next year A. He even had a trophy, "MCCI Favorite Maverick/Comet 2005" A. The voting was conducted by the 6 members in attendance A. Cliff took himself out of the voting A. I won the award A!!! What a shock A!!! Was it because, I was from the states A? Or, did they feel sorry for me (not a local) A? Just kidding A!! Maverick/Comet people are the greatest, no matter where you go in the world A. I was told when leaving, to make sure I start getting my car together A. LOL Very funny people indeed A. Can't wait to see Cliff in July, at our MCCI Washington Mini Meet A. I've posted some pictures, enjoy A! Cliff has some pics too A. I would like to see more cars, from the states next year A.
Thanks again Cliff, you Canucks (Canadians) are the best A....http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mercurycruizers/album?.dir=f071&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos

Well...technically...to be Canadian...it should be "eh". Even though it sounds like "A". I don't know if you noticed it..but Fonzie(happy days) was Canadian too....ehhhh. :49: Well maybe not...but he knew what to say to be cool eh:rolleyes:

Actually...I was kinda wondering what all the "A's" were about until I read mike75mav's comment :)
Anyway the show turned out super..and the weather was great..and the company even better. I have a list of some of the people who made this work: David & Kathy Cooper(Coop and Mrs Coop), from Seattle eh, with their beautiful '73 Comet GT; Andrew Dibnah & his dad Larry(great people) came from Victoria and brought about the nicest & cleanest 4dr '74 Maverick I have ever seen; Lee Andrist & his girlfriend(whos name escapes me...rats), from Nanaimo, brought his clean '74 Comet; Lee brought a guy he met a few days earlier(who was asking him about some parts) but I cannot for the life of me remember his name...but he did bring a wonderful blue Comet to the show;Robert James, from Courtenay, brought his '73 Comet; and of course I was there along with my girlfriend Sheri...oh and I just brought along my old '71 to fill in the spaces. Below there is a pic of Coop holding the trophy he had just won. Congrats Coop...you definatly had the best car at the show! And thanks to everyone who helped out and attended...and a special thanks to Wes, our state rep coordinator, for sending me those fantastic Dash Plaques(everyone was pretty excited when they saw them) Anyway I gotta go and get this igloo cleaned up and find my hockey pucks....
