Very Cool!!! Don't know if he'll get si price for something that is all apart & needs restoration, but still a very trick nostalgia piece!
He is asking alot for the car. But speaking from experience, it sure takes alot of money and time to have all that is done to that car. I know everyone says that you (as a person) can take pride in knowing you did all that work yourself, but it is alot cheaper to buy it already done. I have put over $12,000 in mine this year and it looks no different than it did last year.
I was looking for a picture of this car and found the following link with quite a few famous drag racing Mavericks ... http://www.geocities.com/cyclone_427/dragracing.html
After doing some research on this Maverick, I have rethought my statement of not worth the money. The car is worth every dime of $20,000 to me. This was a under the table Ford factory effort & I'll bet that the data plate will show that this car was a special order car, thus the very low VIN. A little history on this car: This car was built by Bob McNall & Lou Williams, both of which were Ford factory engineers. The chassis & engine set back was done by Doug Nash. The car ran low 10s in C gas without NOS, A Turbo or super charger. The car originally ran a one off fuel injection system designed by Ford engineers, although the ebay ad states it is being sold with Hilborn injection. They took a dual quad intake manifold & converted it to fuel injection. Bob "Jumpy" Snider, a Ford performance engineer, also heavily assisted in this project. The car utilized a VW bug steering. The rearend was narrowed 6 inches. Doug Nash built the short block & ran a Crane R-308 roller cam, which was very trick for its' time. If I had an extra $20,000 lying around, I"d buy that baby! Better than chasing a rusted out Maverick station wagon down in Brazil. LOL
