In my never ending quest to keep my Grabber stock appearing but well optioned, equipped and looking good I added an NOS 1970 RedLine Speedo (can keep track of miles on the new engine) and an AM/FM radio complete with factory manual ..... Now that I got the new engine, new Comforweave Bucket interior, new Rim-Blow wheel and AM/FM radio I'm gonna have to up my insurance with Hagerty!
Just keep on gettin' better 'n better. Just how high do you plan to raise the bar for the rest of us?
You guys have a problem with Hagerty not covering you if you ever take it to the track (don't say anything online that would incriminate yourself and start an insurance investigation). I attempted to get a policy with them, but told them that I had taken it to the track once to see what it would do (which was true at the time, it has been many times since) and they said they could not cover a car that is raced. He was hinting to me to just say that I don't take it to the track, but I don't lie, and would rather pay a little more for the regular Progressive coverage, even though, in Texas, they don't believe in "agreed value". No matter what I do to this car, invest $40,000, it will still be a $600 74 granny car in the eyes of Texas insurance dealers. Any suggestions, or am I screwed in Texas? Sorry, a bit off-topic. By the way, the upgrades look great!
No biggie ... I don't plan on putting it on the track ... As far as insuring your car ... Go with classic insurance as long as it isn't a daily driver. Don't tell them about your once a year track visit .... If you happen to wreck it on the track ... your loss ... otherwise it will be insured .... I wouldn't really consider it insurance fraud unless you wrecked it at the track and then claim it happened someplace else ...
Dan looking good where did you find the Stereo? I picked up a NOS Speedometer head like that a couple of weeks ago at a Falcon Show. Being a 70 Maverick part, the part number looks like a Falcon part number. He said he was happy to get rid of it, been carting it around for a while. Also got a NOS side marker bezel and lense.
I got Hagerty too. I don't race mine but did ask my agent if I one day wanted to make a pass. He said all is fine and I could take it to the track for shows etc but if I raced it and damaged it it would be void for that incident. So like it was said earlier your covered except when your on the track and participating in a race or even preparing for a race - then your taking your own risk. If your at the race track for some other function your actaully covered. We have had shows at our local track and I am covered when I am there for that. I would not think its fraud at all unless you tried to make a claim for a race. It does not help if your car looks set up to race either but they let me in and were happy to have me anyway. Sorry did not mean to take the thread off track. I got the original radio for my car yet maybe I will reinstall it someday!
