just wondering if the engine is very well taken care of... what the average/highest miles the engine will last? It's a 74, with 74,000... It was driven on a regular, but infrequent basis for thirty years, otherwise sitting in a garage. Just wondering about it, generally.

well thats not a lot of miles for a 30 year old car.....but, there is way to many variables to make a call on the quality of a motor just on the amount of miles on the OD.

    I have 185,000 miles on mine. At 74,000, it's just nice & "broke-in"...

a good way to tell is a compression check on each cylinder.:)

My Sprint 200 went 180,000 miles with zero problems. Was running great when I pulled it out but had to have a V8.

When I bought mine it had about 50,000 miles on the clock. It had sat for about 10 years in the owners barn. The only problem I had was that it used a lot of oil. The shop I took it to performed a compression and leak-down test. The problem ended up being valve seals. Guess when they get hard they allow a little too much oil to get by. Otherwise it started and ran every day.
