Well I think I bought a pieced together something. Help I don't know what way to turn, what year, what model. If you can help please let me know your e-mail add and I'll send you pics. I believe body style numbers are different for comet, maverick. 3rd and 4th numbers in the vin, right after the F. Vin decoder in MCCI site. First number is the year by the way, 1 for 71, etc.

You should be able to upload pictures to the forum. When you click on "Reply" and scroll down the page, do you see an attachment button?

Easyest way to tell is look at what kinda tail lights it has.

As far as year goes, if it has big bumpers its more then likely 74-77, small bumpers 70-73. That should get you in the ball park.

    Uhhh......

What good is looking at tail lights if it's pieced together? I've got a real nice comet gas cap on mine. Doesn't mean much.

Mav and Comet tail lights don't swap without a good bit of modification.

And if they aren't the original tail lights, I would think you could tell unless someone did a very, very good job.

    numbers, I like numbers.

Number on the left of the dash will be the 3rd and 4th in the vin, number on the right of the dash is on the door tag. I figured I was going to find out the taillights were hard to swap as soon as I posted that. But I still think this is the best answer to the original question, should have just looked it up to start with.

    91 / 62A - Maverick 2-door Sedan Standard
    92 / 54A - Maverick 4-door Sedan Standard
    93 / 62D - Maverick 2-door Sport Sedan Grabber
    30 / 54B - Comet 4-door Sedan Standard
    31 / 62B - Comet 2-door Sedan Standard or GT

I didn't mean to start anything here guys, was just curious about the car, I don't pick it up for another 10 days and I don't have the VIN #. All I have are pics that are too big to upload. Thanks for your help, as soon as I get the VIN I will look everything up.Still willing to e-mail anyone who wants pics though.

The taillights will indicate what it is. Also; There should be an emblem on the dash, unless someone has removed it which is doubtful, (passenger side) that says either "Maverick" or "Comet"...
